I just went with the rope lights. they give off enough light to see your way around the boat but if I have to do something like tie a knot I have a energizer head lamp I will turn on. I also use the head light when shore fishing cats at night. The one other thing I did get was a Gobee remote controled bow spot light (it lights ups the whole boat like it is day time)(tested it in the garage). It was pricey but worth it. looking to use it this season for the first time (I got it in the end of February when I bought my boat)

Headlamp is a must. I have also installed neon ground effect lights that you would use on the inside of a car. These lights allow you to see the neon colors in your jig box and SUPER CHARGE a glow lure. Not black light; blue. Although a black light would be cool. They barely use anything for power and are easy on the eyes. Tip of the week right there.

For task focused use the LED Headlamp is tough to beat for ease of use and convince. I always have one in my kit.

For lighting the boat efficiently with low amp draw on the battery a good option is a TACO F38-3500 deck light.

I'm a huge fan of the headlamps...don't know why I didn't use them earlier. I don't even bring a separate light with for my night fishing....the headlamp does it all.

Me too!

Too much light in the boat robs you of your night vision.

Yep, headlights are the way to go. Back in the day when I used to do more night fishing, I'd have a blacklight with. If you used Flourescent Blue Stren, it would light up like a rope, making tying easy and allow you to follow the line as you fight a fish.

For sure the headlamps!!

Too much light will also just attract more bugs.

Plus, with a headlamp you can focus the light where it needs to be like for hands free netting of fish etc...

Make sure you buy one that has the "red" light option as well.

With just the red light on you can still easily focus it on baiting your hooks or retying etc...and the red light wont attract the bugs.

Head lamp also, I'm going to try my Frabill ice fishing light, I bet that will work nice.

The Frabill large bar light is a good option too. I mounted one on my catfishing pail for light on the go, works very good. Be a handy area light in the boat too.
