Buzzbaits

Hard to go wrong with the Northland ones. Minor tweaking and they sound pretty good, aren't too spendy and you can find them anywhere when they need replacing (buzzbaits don't last long with pike around...).

I use a 3/8 oz most often. Use the smaller ones for smallmouths sometimes, but they aren't the easiest to cast on heavy gear. If I use them 1/4 size I more often than not take the skirt off and replace it with a 4" fluke or something like that so it casts better.

For LMB though, the 3/8 oz day in and day out.

I have been having very good luck with the Terminator Buzz Baits. Have been finding them in stores fairly cheap too, like $2.99, for all different sizes and colors, and some come with a trailer hook as well.

I see a couple people mention booyah. I refuse to spend a dime on them after all of the problems with their spinnerbaits breaking. Junk!

I agree with RK. I don't spend much on buzzbaits. I don't throw them much, but at least I don't complain after a northern bends them up.

I've fished normal buzzbaits alongside the booya clackers and I can say the clackers get hit a lot more.

This is through many outings the last few years, a friend started using the clacker a few years ago and I would give him [PoorWordUsage] about that loud [PoorWordUsage] annoying clacker, but he would always get more hits, even when I was using the same color buzzbait.

I finally got myself a few clackers and haven't looked back. If I'm throwing a buzzbait its a white clacker 99% of the time.

I keep logs of fish caught on my boat and in 2009 the top lure was a white clacker buzzbait. By then end of the summer everyone of my friends had one after seeing how well they performed.

I use BOOYA. Strongest on the market, they plow through weeds better and they arent wrecked after catching a pike. Infact I use booyah when targeting pike specifically.

I was surprised with the number of strikes I get on the clacker as well, but I prefer the black over the white. I only carry black, white and chartreuse buzzers, but black is my go to.

@kg2- i have a couple of booyah spinners that have been smashed by hundreds of fish and are still going strong. what problems with their spinners did you run into? just curious...

The wire breaks. Maybe it flexes and weakens? I have had this happen mulitple times and so has my tournament partner. (So has others on other bass forums...) When casting sometimes I thought my line broke, but when I reeled it in I was left with the spinners and part of the wire. The lead head, skirt, and hook broke off. Maybe it was the flexing of their "Vibra-FLX" wire? I don't know, but they shouldn't fail on a cast.

Booyah is on my "no buy" list. I parted out the last ones I had for blades and skirts.

Ive never had a problem with booyah spinnerbaits. I catch tons of big pike on em too.

Put it this way, I have booyah spinnerbaits with no paint or skirt left on them from catching so many fish.

Maybe you bought the chinese knock offs.
