Good to know.. I did some searching on state land last year in the fall.. In hopes that I can get on them around here in the spring. Found a few areas that maybe might hold some. I have never found any on my own, only with friends.. and only in southern MN.. so finding some here in the home town would be awesome!

Deitz....You have good area all around you up there.I cant get specific but Ive found alot of shrooms around that area.Last year me and a friend found around 35lbs within ten miles of Lindstrom. That wasnt all at once mind you,but 3 trips to the same area which we have permission to pick.I drive through there during the week for work so maybe when it gets closer I can meet you somewhere to give you a couple of ideas on where to look..

Which road is that 1dirtball? I could stop on my way home from work and help you pick them wink.

That would be the Old Buffalo Road jerkbait! I live a short distance south of #12. Do you live down this way also? 1DIRTBALL wink

that's pretty cool there. never went looking for these. my wife and i both love mushrooms. have to start looking. they look easy to indentify or are there mushrooms that look similar to stay away from? good luck.

There is one you definitely want to stay away from reinhard1. It is called simply, the false morel. Here's an excellent link for information you need to know: http://www.thegreatmorel.com/falsemorel.html 1DIRTBALL wink

It looks like a bunch of you are in the North Metro as well. I checked out a few good looking parks and WMAs near my house in Forest Lake last spring, but didn't find a single one. I have only found them in one spot in the south metro, in a small wooded lot on my friends property. There are few there though, just enough each year for about 2 meals. I would be interested in meeting up with some fellow shroomers in the upcome weeks too. Not looking for anyones private honey hole, but more along the lines of showing me the proper way to look-tree ID, terrain to look for, etc.

well i think a "mushroom 101" weekend should be in the works! i went out to a few spots of mine today just to poke around.

i'd be up for a walk in the woods some weekend with fellow HSO's... maybe try some new spots, give the old guys a challenge at some new ground and the new guys a lesson on what to look for smile
