Looking at getting one. All My friends have Honda 1000 and 2000.

My question's are... Does any one have one of the off brand's. Something other than the Honda or Yamaha. What one? How do you like it? And have you had any troubles with it.

Top 3 are honda, yamaha, then kipor which is similar to honda. My bro in law bought a mccullough. Half the price of a honda, not louder than the others, but twice the size and weight, plus it seems to interfere with the vexilar and marcum. Like stated above, you get what you pay for.

I have heard of the off brands (not all) not running so well in the extreme cold. Was in the return line and saw 2 come back one year. Dont know what brand they were but heard that is a potential prob. No generator is AS quiet as a Honda or Yamaha that will work well in the cold. Some may think they are quiet but then you put the Honda next to it and sold!!!

I bought an etq 1800 from menards, never worked right returned it four times and none of them worked right. My dad bought a wheel horse from northern 2200 watt its easy to start and really not that loud. I now have a Honda and couldnt be happier. The honda uses 1/4 the gas of the wheel horse.

I bought a honda eu2000 last week after having a similar question. I used this generator for the past 24 hours + a trial run in the driveway last week. It's awesome - just awesome. I'm really glad I spent the money on the honda instead of going with a cheaper one I was looking at. Seriously consider the honda. It's really quiet. I can hardly hear it at all. In fact, I have a tough time telling if I'm hearing the generator or my truck if both are running.

i bought a honda eu2000 last season. single handedly the best piece of gear i have yet. i had a cheapy before but you cant beat a honda. there are a few knock off brands that can be similar in noise but not as quiet. the other thing that makes honda so great is the fuel efficiency. 2 qts of fuel will last you near 10-12 hours depending on what you are powering up. i believe yamamha makes one that is pretty comparable but i believe the price is a bit more. like the others say you get what you pay for. There is a sport shop in monticello that advertises on the outdoor news for the eu2000 @ $899. usually honda's are priced at $1199 at gander. cut out the advertisement and bring it into gander and they will price match. this is what i did and it saved me a bunch on money and i didnt have to drive so far since i live south of the river.

Honda is the way to go, in the past 10 years I have owned a coleman, etq, another generic one can't remember the name, but they are nothing compared to the 2 honda 3000 and the 1 honda 1000 we have. Sold the rest and now just run hondas, we use them year round. In the summer for building in remote areas, in the winter for powering the hunting shack and to power our winter ice fishing cabins.

Go with honda you won't be dissapointed.

Not really an "off" brand but I have 2 Mitsubishi I use ... (1 small portable and 1 frame \ wheels) that are just as quiet and run as long or longer then the Honda and cost a bit less.

The MGC 1101 is the small one $500.. 1050 watts about 9-11 hours

The MGE 2900Fou is the bigger one $900... 2900 watts about 22-26 hours

Consider your overall Generator needs in addition to the fishhouse. Camping, jobs around the property, if you live in a remote area to you often lose power in storms where you may need to supplement your electric needs. Consider these factors when you think about Brand AND POWER capabilities. For me, I have a Yamaha SEB 3000i which boosts to 3500 Watts when it is required (A/C kicks on in my camper for instance). But the Yamaha is as quiet as any unit out there---and in this particular size, it comes with wheels on it. That said, I think the Honda are just as good---but I liked the features of the Yammi better.

My point is--go with a Yammi or Honda and don't go too small--you'll regret it some day.

I just bought the Yamaha 2000 and couldn"t be happier. I compared very close with the honda 2000. For me I liked the gas gauge on the yamaha, it came with a charging cord and that it is a couple db quieter. Though they both are so darn quiet i doubt you could tell the difference. Red or blue you can't go wrong. Don't skimp the honda's and yammys are worth every penny. Actually will cost less in the long run. Over the weekend i ran mine for 44 hrs straight. I used right around 3.5 to 4 gallons of gas. That is impressive!

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
