I've always admired the guy, even when he was SUCH a Twin killer with Cleveland. I had to dig up some stats on this season vs a couple of his killer ones as an Indian.

He currently stands at 587 homers. In 2001 while with Cleveland, he hit 49 dingers with 526 at bats, or an average of one HR every 10.7 AB. 2002 he hit 52 home runs with 480 AB, for an average of one HR every 9.2 AB. The guy is near the end of his career, but he's still hitting one HR every 11.1 AB this year (23 HR/255AB). Pretty impressive, GO JIM!

aahhh, man i think you're right, they don't count.

i figured "career home runs" meant the number of times you sent the ball over the fence during your career but I guess not...

either way, Thome's Oct. 31 dinger will drive in the final nail in the coffin for a 4 game sweep.

Next Year sometime for me as well! STILL IN A TWINS UNIFORM!!!! Thome is one of those guys that is hard to hate! He's a great on and off the field guy and just goes about his business and never gets a big head!

Even though he sent the Sox to the playoffs in '08 off of us, he was the only player on that team that I respected and even though it hurt to not make the playoffs he's the only guy I could tolerate giving up the run to. (Even said that right after the homerun)

I hope he STAYS around for it! He didn't cost us too much ESPECIALLY for what he's provided. As far as I can tell he's only playing because he wants another shot at a world series. If we win the world series, he meets his goal and may want to end on a high note. If we don't win the world series, he might just call it quits anyways.

Quality backups for many positions are the only thing that have kept this team playing strong this year. If we don't get Thome next year, we're going to NEED to find at least one more strong DHer.
