Yeah...its sad. I have not caught a 4lber yet.

I just started bass fishing last year and this is my 2nd year. Just bought myself a canoe this spring and been using it as much as I can. Biggest to date bass I caught was a 3.14ounce at Lake Demontreville. Been to Lake Zumbra, Otter, Wilson, Jane, Redneck, Beebe, Pelican and more....and still no 4lber. Been to other "secret" lakes that friends have taken me to and still...no 4lbers. However, my friends have caught many 4-5lbers this summer. I have used jigs, worms, frogs, swimbaits, spinners, etc.... Not the best at using them all, but I have caught bass with all types.

Since Fall is coming...what can I do to up my chances of getting a 4lber? Maybe 5, maybe 6lber in MN?

thanks all!

there are decent numbers of 4 pound bass in Jane and D'ville. You could also check out Turtle... and MPLS lakes (calhoun harriet and cedar) all have healthy numbers of 4 pounders

big baits and time on the water will put them in the boat for you! you might also try night fishing with some big jigs and spinnerbaits, particularly on the clearer lakes like Jane, Calhoun, etc

good luck!

I need help too! Specifically, I need a spot with 5 four pounders on Waconia for Saturday.

Funny. Are you fishing that with Steve? He mentioned at softball that the only tournaments he had left to fish were Big Marine (which I believe has passed already) and Waconia. Have to root for the fellow Lab Rat.

I would kill for a 4-pounder! After some of the posts about people fudging the size of fish in their photos, I went out and got a good digital scale so I could see just how big the fish I catch are.

Evidently every bass on my part of Leech is a clone' the last 24 bass I've caught were all between 2 lbs 2 oz and 2 lbs 13 oz. They're fun to catch, but I'd sure like to tie into a bigger one at some point!

My slump's over! The wind laid down enough for me to get out for about an hour this evening, and man were the largies snappin'!

This was the biggest (I know, it's the worst fish picture ever. I'm pretty limited with what I can do fishing by myself!)

The other half-dozen I landed were all between 2-3 lbs. The best hour of fishing I've had in a while smile

griz - the place I caught this is about 90 seconds away from the harbor. nice to have a good spot close to home for days like yesterday when you don't have much time to fish.

I caught the big one on a gold Jawbreaker, and most of the rest of them on a Booyah buzzbait.

I'll give you a call next week and we'll sneak out there and chase 'em!
