Anybody Know What This Lure Is?

Recommended Posts

Looks old, and the type of lure you might find in small local bait shops.

I haven't scene that color pattern in Mills or G.M.

You may have to paint one yourself.

Looks like the samer shape as the old red eye wiggler spoons but I haven't ever seen one painted that way. You may want to contact some of the local antique lure collectors in the area and find out if it is something you can get from them.

Looks homemade to me. The best kind of successful lure you can have. Check the rear split ring. It looks like it may need to be replaced. I would also put a split ring on the front of that lure. It may increase the action and help keep you from losing it.

I was thinking Red Eye as well, but didnt those have a red bead in the top of them? Or didnt they all have them? I think I have one just like that one in one of my boxes, but it has the red bead on it.

Red eye is now made by eppinger. Also check out Williams Trophy. both have web sites and are in the catalog of big C. Looks more like a really old red eye, or a cheap imitation, like the fake daredevles we used to use back in the day because the genuine thing cost twice as much.

Maybe a herters item? Anything stamped on it anywhere? Usually they had something stamped, no matter who made them.

If you choose to reproduce it, go to a hobby/craft store and get some plastic sheet stencil material. You then trace the pattern with a fine point sharpee, cut out the pattern, and now you are able to reproduce as many as you wish.
