Zam- Guerrier is a major league pitcher. Crain is a town ball pitcher in a major league uniform. Period.

gardy even commented that he didn't want to use duensing or guerrier today because they've been used so much lately. if you've got a tired bullpen and the starter is cruising, why not at least let him start another inning? (and I already know that gardy has forgot more about the game than I'll ever know so that makes it even more difficult to understand)

The same Joe Torre who went 10 years with a 200 plus million dollar pay-roll and the best team on paper for everyone of those years and won nothing?

The same Torre who is now in LA under similar circumstances and is under achieving?

I don't see any advantage we would have had with any of the fore mentioned coaches.

You have to look at the big picture instead of the 7th game of the world series mentality glassess that we sometimes as fans look through..

Oh and Rivera doesn't pitch more than one inning a whole lot more than Nathan has..... and Nathans multi inning stats are actually higher than most if not all of the other closers in the game.

Of course if we had used him "nathan" a lot more maybe he would have BLOWN his arm out quicker and he would have been back sooner after major surgery than he is expected back....LOL!

As much as I have liked Gardy, I am really starting to question many of his moves this season.

We will not win in the play offs even if we get there.

The Dodgers don't have the talent we do, sorry- but its true. Mannys on the DL now which isn't gonna help. The Yankees teams he managed made the playoffs pretty much every year, but they didn't win every WS, but about half of the ones they made it to, i would take their WS record since 96. Most of the Yankees troubles were chemistry, money helps, but chemistry is more important. We have the talent and the chemistry- but I am starting to question Gardenhires decisions. At this point, I would take Dusty Baker over Gardy. The Reds are going to make the play-offs with half our talent, but with a manager that makes great decisions.

gardy I think has been an excellent 162 game mgr for the team to consistently contend in a division that is regularly one of the weakest but not so sure he's so strong at individual games or series that are crucial and seems he's been shown up by other mgrs in individual games or series. think he's baseball's version of marty schottenheimer.

very true PierBridge. managers/coaches don't win championships but they do play a big part in getting the team to the championship.

(of course the vikings are the one exception to your rule of players having anything to do with winning championships if you ask many around here. the players had nothing to do with that loss to the saints. it was chili, the nfl conspiracy, the refs, and something to do with a full moon phase or something like that.

In Gardy's defense, he is trying to juggle a pitching staff of average pitchers at best. he has no rock to turn to, just another average pitcher.

The other thing is that he has all the stats at his disposal and we have gut feelings. he also has to think about tomorrow and not tax his bullpen too much, etc. I have no problem with Gardy.

I was actually thinking Crain would have been a better option than Guerrier last night. Tying run at 3rd, 1 out, Crain a s.o. pitcher.....even if he walks the first guy, then a dp gets out with the lead. Guerrier had NOTHING....he needs rest.
