How many boats?

How many boats do you have? I see some guys have river boats and some with their big hp and some with their 15hp ( which is my big hp). How many working fishable boats do you have and how many do you use? I have the one at the moment and working on #2!

Sitting at the cabin right now:

Tracker Pro Guide V-16 (75HP Merc 4 Stroke)

14 Foot Ward's Sea King (7.5HP Merc)

12 Foot ?????? (4 HP Mariner when my uncle is around, otherwise row baby row)

And some Pelican paddle boat (which is actually fairly fishable, my brother and I got some funny looks when we carried that into a motor-less lake).

They all get used at some point throughout the year.

Not all fishing boats but....

24 ft pontoon

22 ft antique wooden speed boat

20 ft ski boat

18 ft sailboat

17 ft canoe

14 ft fishing boat

12 ft paddle boat

10 ft wave runner

(this is between me and my parents, but we share them all)

They all get used pretty regularly except the sail boat.

1 16' Canoe

2 Trying to figure out how to get an old 16' with a 15hp since paddling solo in my canoe is for the birds.

Those 14-16 ft alum with 15-25 motor are a great setup. Classic, Simple, Versitile. Tough to beat for the price.

a 13 1/2 ft canoe.

I'd have an affordable aluminum boat and 25hp motor if I had a place to keep one, but alas I'm still apartment-bound in minneapolis.

At least I'm saving on gas every time I'm out on the water though wink

Between me and bro...

18' 150hp

16' 50hp

20' pontoon 25hp

14' 15 hp

12' duck boat

two 10' duck boats

one paddle boat smile

We call it The Fleet.... now, notice I didn't put years with them, haha, as they aren't new! Our wives give us carp, oh well, they knew what they were in for when they signed up wink

16' Crestliner - 1973 for fishing

14' Alumacraft - Unknown mid 70's? for hunting I suppose (VERY SHALLOW could be used for rivers or hard to reach lakes.... It's basically a canoe with a flat back end.)

the 6hp Evinrude does double duty at this point in time! I just need to either fix that 15hp or look for something bigger for the main rig!

14' Lund with a 25 HP Johnson (main fishing boat refinished nicely)

14' Lowe johnboat with a 15 HP Evinrude (river fishing/ducks)

12' Lowe vhull with a 6 HP sea-king (duck hunting only)

17' Grumman canoe

I would really like a bigger boat, something in the 16'-18' range with a 100+ HP four stroke so I could fish big water like leech and vermilion effectively. Preferably a big tiller motor. Nothing like holding 150hp in the palm of your hand grin

18 ft. Lund Explorer with 150 Suzuki

1943 (year built) 14 ft Alumacraft

10 ft. Alumacraft jon boat

Partial owner in:

16 ft Lund

16 ft. Crestliner

14 Ft. unknown aluminum boat

Partial ownership is a group of guys that went in together to buy boats that we can use in Trout Lake in BWCA

    • Yeah it was a beatdown
    • Your kid needs to stay with him!👍
    • My kid was eating in Beverly Hills and ran into this guy. Talked to him a bit and wished him luck in the game tonight.
    • 🤔as a recovering machinist!🤣🤣that must make me a recovering welder!
    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
