Twins games selling out?

I'm coming in town in late may, on leave from the army, and im hoping to catch a twins game in the new stadium. Are these games selling out? Will I be able to buy tickets at the field, or should I buy them ahead of time?

Thanks

Although they've been "selling out" you shouldn't have any problem getting tickets via returned tickets from visiting teams and or scalpers. I've been to 5 games so far and its seems like the scalpers have a surplus of tickets on the streets.

Be careful buying from scalpers. I was on the light rail train heading for Target field today and got into a conversation with someone else on the train about this. He said that a friend bought $100 worth of tickets from a scalper only to find out when they got to the seats on the tickets, they were occupied. Turned out the tickets were fake.

I would ask the scalper to come with me to the gate first and find out if they are real before handing over the dough. If they are legit the scalper shouldn't mind.

Were they e-tickets? I don’t trust e-tickets and won’t buy them unless they're off of stubhub where they're guaranteed. Also, if the tickets this person bought were indeed fake (with a duplicated UPC), either the actual owner or the person with the fake tickets would have been able to get through the gate. All tickets are scanned at the gate, validated and that ticket number is marked as used so it cannot be used again (i.e. passing your ticket through the gate to another friend to use). His story sounds a bit like a fish tale... Not saying there aren’t counterfeit tickets out there but he wouldn’t have gotten through the gate at all.

i think its pretty easy to find tickets out there you might have to pay a little more but there are plenty out there plus check online right before games for people who have to cancel and jsut want to get there money back off tickets.

Dave's right. I heard it on the news. Counterfit tickets are a big business right now and counterfitters are GOOD.

I'd have no problem buying from a scalper outside the gate, the ones to watch for are the ones blocks away. Like someone said, have him come to the gate with you to make sure they're legit. He'd probably be okay with you taking his photo too if he were legit.

I don't think they got in with fake tickets and found the seats occupied by the legit ticket holders, they were probably turned away at the gate. The tickets are scanned when you enter the park so counterfeit tickets wouldn't get you in.

OK guys, I get it. I got part of the d*a*m*n story wrong. I guess I'll just quit trying to help anyone around here. Just forget my whole post and go buy all the tickets from scalpers you want. Obviously I was wrong.

Guys, DAVE IS RIGHT! I saw it on the news. Yes, some of the fake tickets had working bar codes. No kidding.

Keep puting those helpful posts up Dave. Don't let a couple doubters keep ya down.

I saw on the news that the world is going to end...

I'm sure counterfeiting happens but the media blows EVERYTHING out of proportion.

Be a smart consumer and you’re less likely to get burned. I’ve bought from scalpers twice this year, including the opener, and I was fine. Are my experiences the gospel? Nope. Nor is the news.

I don't get your angle here. Are you saying that I am blowing counterfeiting out of proportion? I never said it was running rampid, I just relayed a story that was told to me. You can take it for what you will but I was happy to have heard the story because I never would have thought of something like counterfeiting tickets. I'm happy that you bought from scalpers and had good experiences. All I was saying is that not everyone out there is striving to do the right thing. And BTW, I have no idea who you are so I will take the word of a network news affiliate over some guy on a message board.

My angle? My last response was to Donbo. Not you.

I don't think scalping is as bad as the MEDIA makes it seem. I've never been burned and do not know one person, directly or indirectly that has been burned. I know it happens and there are plenty of crooks out there but my point is I dont think its as big of a deal as they say it is. Have you seen any actual official statistics from police reports saying scalping is up? I've seen nothing. Or did the #4 say it was bad, so it is?

The original poster asked a question. You gave your response. I gave mine. He'll do whatever he wants and listen or ignore our input.

I dont know you either and dont expect you to take my word as the gospel, as I stated before. Just saying I hope people would know when to take things with a grain of salt... have a beer and chill out.

Well first of all I never said there was anything at all wrong with scalping tickets. I was talking about counterfeiting tickets. there is a fifference.

Second of all I never said that scalping or counterfeiting was on the rise.

Third of all I never even mentioned the media. I've never once seen a story on the news about counterfeit tickets. I was relaying a story that was told to me.

I'm not sure why you would take a stance against warning folks about something they may not have ever thought about. I never said that people should put on the tin foil hat and lock their doors. I simply told a story that could save someone some money someday.

Just reading this I think both of you were giving beneficial information. No need to start a feud over it! It is very possible that someone who bought a ticket got to the seats and someone else was sitting there. (Maybe the first tickets were the fakes OR maybe someone was just in the wrong seats) I've gone to games at the dome and people were sitting in my seats and then realized they were suppose to be a row up/down. I also do think that when the tickets get scanned that bar code becomes inactive. Thats why when you print out your tickets they tell you not to make duplicates in case someone else would get a hold of it somehow.

Thanks for the info from everyone. To the original poster if you are set on tickets you can always check auction sites or stubhub to get them! I would always try the twins site first though. Most weekend games that I have looked for Fri-Sat-Sun have been hard to find more than 1 or maybe 2 side by side at best.

There's NO CRYING in Baseball guys! grin

Counter fitting is on the rise particularly with the high demand events. So the opening of our New stadium was a big prize for the thieves who target these types of Games that people are willing to pay a hefty sum over face value. The viking Packer game was another huge target as are ALL the big sporting events and they "thieves" usually move on to next BIg deal!

It is extremely rare or highly unlikely that both set's of the tickets would be able to enter the event with today's highly sophisticated bar-code scanning systems. But I guess anything is possible.

That being said, while you can never be certain, it's very unlikely anyone will be selling Fake tickets at or around face value to a late May Game.

If you know what day you want to go to the game I would try buying ahead of time. There are tickets available to most games right now, maybe just not in the exact section or price range you are hoping for.

The best advice is to always buy ahead if possible. If not you can buy from Stubhub or a similar business or from a scalper, these options will be available the day of the game but at an increased price and perhaps a slight risk of fake tickets. Although the risk of fake tickets is out there so is the risk of a car accident on the way to the game.

Just be smart and don't worry too much about it.
