DD I don't think anyone is hating on the red shorts, the legend has just grown to mythical proportions smile

Guys, guys, guys. Don't use the words MYTHICAL and PROPORTIONS and DD in the same sentence. It just makes all our lives more difficult.

Yup, but forum rules are that we cant show them(they are not a sponsor of HSO). I can tell you though that Thorne Brothers, Frankies, Mikes bait on 8 all have them on the shelves already.

Its called the HitchSeries Trailer Hitch. its a small piece of spring steel that holds on to your jig at the skirt color area, and then has 2 stabbers that grab on to your trailer so that it cant slip.. really slick. Something I will have on all my jigs this year. Retail seems to be around $4.99 for a 5 pack.. which I will save the first day I use them.

I like the chunk slings better

The ChunkX Slings look cool and quite useful for jigs, but what if you're wanting to fish something weedless? Doesn't seem like it would work too well. From what I've seen, these Trailer Hitch things work great in any situation, even worms & swimbaits. Pretty slick, and I think I'll be picking up a pack to try out.

Aaron is correct. Right now, I have the Trailer Hitch on my Flippin'Jigs, my Swim Jigs, my Football Jigs, my Spinner baits and my Chatterbait style baits.

It will work on just about any lure that you would put a trailer on and with just about any style of trailer.

The more I play around with it the more uses I find. I also have it on my buzzin' frogs and hollow swimbaits. These baits typically only have the cork screw type keeper to hold them on, for what, one fish then it rips the nose out and you end up with a pile of junk baits on the floor of your boat.

Like Deitz said, these will pay for themselves the first day out. Not to mention the time it will save re-rigging or messing around with super glue.

No brainer!

OK last year I did quite well on Black/Blue jig with a blue trailer. It didn't seem to matter overcast days or clear skies but it was usually clearer water. What conditions (sky and water clarity) do you guys use other colors like black/brown, sunfish, green pumpkin etc? And what color trailers?

If you like, just rules of thumb or generalities are fine.

Thanks in advance!

When it comes to color, I really think it all depends on what a person is confident in. There are a few rules of thumbs out there, but really, in bass fishing, all rules are meant to be broken.

Rules of thumbs..

Clear water/bright day=natural colors/ sunfish, green pumpkin

clear water/overcast day=Natural Colors/black brown crawfish

Stained water/bright day=black/blue

staned water/overcast=black/brown black/red, black/black

as for trailers.. You can match your skirt, or contrast it.. change its size to get a different fall rate..

I will stick with the same jigs but change up my chunk based on the water color. If I am using a brown and black jig, in clear water I will use a brown trailer, in dirty water I will use a black trailer.

Fishing jigs is alot of fun so its a good idea that you are starting to fish them more. I like using heavier jigs usually 1/2-1-1/2 for heavy cover and swim jigs. The heavier jig goes through cover better and produces better reaction strikes on the fall. I also like the bigger profile of bigger jigs and the distance you can get out of them when swimming jigs.

Play around with trailers and colors to see what works on the waters that you fish. Be patient since jigs can be slow fishing at times but then you can hit a good school and bang a bunch of fish.
