HUGE Trout

I think the thing that makes it so exciting is the crystal clear ice! I don't know, but if I had a nice one on a rod like that and coming up through clear ice. I may scream like a little girl too!! blushlaugh

Yeah, that's a good one. Been watching that one about once a day for a week or so. Monster fatty. Love the action but I always end up muting it because girly-man-screamer irritates me so much.

You may not scream but you would fill your Depends. That wasnt no lil B-Side fatty.

I'll bow to your experience with adult diapers. Never needed them myself. So far my best Bside fatty went 21.5 lbs, according to the girth/length formula. Not as big as the laker in the vid, for sure. What's your biggest inland laker, diaper boy? gringringrin

I LOVE this video!

Bunch of great elements! You have a huge fish, clear ice, excitement and a perfect release. I'd say to anyone that doesnt' think so, to try and go out and shoot a better one. It's a lot harder than it looks wink

I agree DTRO! They also kept their composure VERY well, considering! I would have had a hard time not dropping a whole lot of F bombs and other various colorful words from all the excitement.

I can only hope to one day know what it feels like to pull a fish through a hole half it's size!

Very nice trout and video. If you like big lakers and want to travel, try Clearwater Lake outside of The Pas, Manitoba. You can drive there (about 500 miles from the boarder--good road)so a fly in is not required. If you want lots of smaller--3-9 lb lakers try Clearwater in September from shore off the "pumphouse". Little Cleos work well. I usually fish Cormorant up there for Northerns, but will occasionally drive down to Clearwater--which also has nice Northerns.

used to be a resort there that was open in winter.

Not as far as you know, considering your noted lack of success at catching them. gringringrin

Hey I have a very good catch to trip ratio. 2 trips in a row I iced 3 lakers on B-side. Never been skunked up there. Oh wait there was one day that after a night at the Wabbit I only fished 2 hours. Well sorta fished. grinsick

Northlander,

Do you ever fish Superior. My Sister and her spouse have a couple of resorts near Grand Marais. they love lakers. I sent him some downriggers for open water and he has caught some, and lost some cannon balls. Is it pretty good laker fishing around there--if you know??

thanks

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
