He wasn't doing anything wrong on lap 46. Nothing more than everyone else around him. Edwards was trying to be the bull in the china shop (on lap 46 mind you) and he got what he should have expected by driving like a fool.

Nascar said they wanted to put the personalities back in the drivers and let them police themselves.

We will see more of it. This will not be the last little exchange between drivers be it on the track, pit road, the garage, where ever.

Frankly, I think braddy had it comming, be it from carl, or another driver. He is in over his head and is wreaking good cars. Carl knew he was not in contention. The only reason he was back out on that track was to take brad out, and he did that. With flying colors. wink

Mabe if Carl would have said something like, "...I diddn't mean to wreak him, only rattle his cage a little...." people wouldn't be as upset. I diddn't think he was going to fly threw the air, just end up in the infield doesn't have the same ring to it.....

If there some beatin and bangin for a win or a decent finish than so be it. Otherwise common sense would have to say you're not in contention for anything run some laps gain a position or two and stay out of the way.

Maybe nascar should implement a you go to the garage you stay in the garage! That way tempers stay in check until the green flag next week.

One thing i don't understand is these crews will spend a lot of time piecing together a car to get it back out only to have it loose pieces and cause cations. Yet if somebody blows an engine early in a race you never see them drop a new motor and head back out. So its o.k. to put a car back out on the track that will not be competitive and potentially be not as safe as it was but you can't replace a motor in a perfectly good car?

Up to now Carl has been my favorite driver but I lost a lot of respect for him and his stupid move. I don't think BK did anything wrong on lap 46, Carl moved down on his nose plain and simple. I don'th have a problem with drivers rattling each others cages but Carl clearly tried doing more than that. His interview made him sound like a complete jackace you would think he would have showed some remorce. I think some of this was Nascar's duing with thier "Gloves Off" mentality this year, I hope they make an example out of the 99. In the mean time I am taking applications for new favorite driver! On a side note, I am sure nascar is scrambling to get the spoiler out ASAP after the another "wing issue", especially since the announcers made it known.

Agreed. Mr. Keselowski has had his share of run-ins and some amount of payback I am ok with, but the punishment needs to fit the crime, and the punishment should not cause risk to the life of a driver or to the fans.

In this case, Carl deliver's a punishment that is no way even justifiable. On lap 46 Brad was under Carl in the corner and Carl came down on Brad. Brad held his line. He never went up and initiated any contact. Carl made a mistake and that whole situation was his fault. If somehow in Carl's mind he was thinking back to Talladega last year also, he was again wrong. That wreck was a result of NASCAR's yellow line rule (IMO), and even if that is the case, why yeterday at that point in the race? There are far better tracks for which Carl could have had some payback for Talladega if that was indeed what he was thinking. Yet, 2 hours and 160 laps later he decides, "I'm going to punish Brad for my earlier mistake, and I'll throw in the Talladega wreck as an added excuse"...at 185 miles per hour in the frontstretch. Completely inexcusable in my opinion.

That being said, it will be very interesting to see what NASCAR does in this case. NASCAR said that they are going to allow the driver's to police themselves, and now that Carl has clearly crossed the line, what will NASCAR do? Carl is really lucky that he doesn't have a driver's injury / death or fans injuries / deaths on his shoulders this morning. I'm sure Carl didn't mean for the car to catch air, but he really should have known that that was not the time nor the place for payback.

I'm just wondering what the ramifications may happen between owners and other owners. Do they start having goon drivers that only have one job- to eliminate some drivers from making the chase or to be in the top 35 in owner points.

Oh yea Brad has never wrecked anybody has he?????????? Come on Harvey U see that stuff everyweek In your backyard and jus look what it does to guyz when racing is supposed to be fun.

Yes, I see it every week but I do not condone it. We do not hit others just to pay them back. Clint has always raced as clean as he could. We do take pride in the fact that we try to make the car as fast as possible and can win without taking others out. Most drivers will race you as well as you race them. Hack on a driver and you more than likely will get hit back.

I understand there will be bumping and rubbing on the dirt but in no way should drivers smash one up for paying one back or just for being upset cause they were passed.

Thats not racing, that a demo derby.

Like I said before, nAscar wanted this. They NEED this kind of thing now. The car is safer than it has ever been. The tracks are safer than they have ever been. 99 out of 100 times Brads car goes sliding into the infield grass. This time it diddn't, ooppps. Brad just learned that he has one less friend out there on the track. Yea, he got his bell rung, but his car never even got close to going into the fence/croud, and the car crupled were it was designed to and the driver was protected.

Nascar needs this kind of thing because the product they put on the track is booring as you know what. Jimmy Johnson and Chad winning all the time is bad for rattings and people are tired of it. A couple of B-list drivers (gonna rattle some cages with that one) getting into it in the final laps of a race is good for Nascar. That way they dont need to thow a phantom caution to bunch the cars back up with 10 to go.

Bring back "Days of Thunder" was the coments they (nascar) made durring the off season, that is what they are getting now. If they want a good product with good ratings, they will let this slide a bit. No major fines, just a slap on the wrist. My gut feeling is that is what we are going to see.

Here's another tid bit on Edwards that I'm sure no one here knows of... I was at Indy in 08' with my father in law walking along the infield grass, now if you've been there you know they have a few paved roads for travel and what not. Well, here comes Edwards driving along with a passenger in a Polaris Razor just flying bobbing and weaving through people and traffic. The people mover train was at a stop by the ESPN Box letting people off... What's Edwards do? He takes his Razor and drives it between the people trying to get off and the ESPN Box. He didn't even creep just hammered it and flew by. If anyone would have step in his path he would have nailed them! My father and law and I couldn't believe how crazy he was driving around the fans! People were yelling at him as he drove away! What a jerk :{ From what I seen of his actions with team mate Kenseth, to the incident in Indy and now the race in Atlanta this guy has definite patience and anger problems! I hope he messes with someone like Stewart or Newman and gets throttled. The guy just needs to be laid out plain and simple, then maybe he will think about how he reacts a little more.

I can see the 1st place driver in the last race of the season who only needs to come in 20th place or better in order to take the championship, fearing for his life. What's to keep some driver who is in 25th place in the points standings and has nothing to lose from taking out the top guy so his team mate who is second in points can win the championship?

Yes I agree that he's opened up a can of worms. Nascar put it back in the drivers hands to bump draft etc... All with an emphasis on "respect". Thanks to Carl I think Nascar is gonna have to take back the reins, and put the screws to the boys who can't play nice.

I say park him for at least a full race weekend.
