Crappies- what would cause this color????

Looks like a white crappie for starters they will be lighter. They do also change colors with the vegatation. I had a crappie in my fish tank and it would go from black as the ace of spades to near clear at times depending on lighting and other factors I couldn't explain.

It looks like the ones I used to get out of Twin Lake in Robbinsdale. I later found out they are contaminated with teflon. The pigment just slides right out of them grin

As others said it really has most to do with the water color. Their color will vary depending on their habitat just like other animals.
