Its fixed and is better then new. It was his net btw.

Help...... I'm reading this thread with interest.... and itching to get there to fish for those giant sturgeon, but am I reading the regulations book wrong? Season for sturgeon on the Rainy River opens on April 24th, not the 17th weekend of the "Excursion"?????

Sorry for my ignorance, but want to make sure I have the right dates?

You have the right dates; you can fish for sturgeon catch and release prior to the season opening.

Looking at the forecast via accuweather....30mph wind gusts Friday and Saturday. Hope that doesn't stay true, or its going to be a bumpy ride out in 4mile bay.

It is open year round up there. I might check out the small bay west of wig wam if the sturgeon are slow.

I know a lot of guys like to take a side trip over to Zippel looking for Pike when they are up there.

Then there are the guys that catch them on a sturgeon rig out in 4 Mile Bay

Thats why I was thinking if I caught a 36" pike two years ago sturgeon fishing it might be worth targeting them.
