A new float system, Venom!!

Well fellow anglers I had the chance to try out the new floats from Venom and I am impressed. I know that Ice buster bobbers have their following but of course with them there is one flaw. Once you cut the styro to adjust for buoyancy there is no turning back. Don't get me wrong they are great floats, but Venom has taken it to a whole new level.

With the new Venom floats there is no cutting to adjust, by simply adjusting the styro inside the translucent lower body of the float marked with hash marks there is a ton of room to achieve the correct buoyancy for your set up.

I keep one rod in my bag rigged with a float, now that these have come out, this will be the float you'll see on my line. I recently was out looking for crappies, I had my float rod rigged with a #6 genz worm and a small crappie minnow. On my jiggin rod I was nailing a few small walleyes on a jigging spoon, so I wanted to switch lures on my float rod. I switched to a big ol #2 Lindy frostee and a decent size rainbow.. All I needed to do with the float was slide the styro up a few hashmarks and I had just the right amount of buoyancy. It's something that just couldn't have been done with other floats with out having to take off or apply a bunch of split shot that really just damage the line more than need be when taking off and putting shot back on.

I had a chance to use these new floats recently too. Even though I was skeptical, I loved 'em!

One afternoon I was crappie fishing in deep water with a pretty hefty weight to get down there. The next morning I was fishing this same rig with a tiny jig for trout in very shallow, very clear water. The only change needed was to slide the styro deeper into the Venom floats base. It was so easy to get perfect buoyancy without switching or cutting the bobber.

I will definetly have a permanant place in my tackle box for these floats.

What are the things that look like thumbtacks?

Zamboni, those are weights! They are for adjusting the float for less buoyancy than allowed by sliding the styro up and down. They fit inside the translucent lower body pinned on the bottom of the styro!

I haven't had to use them yet, but it's nice knowing that they are there.

Venom Outdoors is a start-up company and not at all a large corporation. The pin-on weights were all poured and painted by hand while packaging was done by all family members that could help. WTG Venom Floats. Just watched the video and Ill have them next year. Now lets see them in some of the stores. These will be a hit for sure once people see them in use. Great infinate adjustment for ice fishing.

I think for as long as bobbers have been around must be at least 1000'S of years. It is time for a change and this Venom bobber has hit the ground running . From what I have seen it is the first bobber you can adjust the flotation level of the bobber , so you can use it for many different jig's.

I have used these bobbers for the past 4 weeks after I went to the web sit to send for them .<very fast ship> and watch the video it is very informative will answer any question you might have.

Give them a try you won't be disappointed.

Got mine yesterday. Came with an extra plastic slip bobber piece, pre cut. Awesome! will be trying them tomorrow.

Venom Floats donated 100 Venom Float sets to the Shack is Back benefit last weekend. Corey (The owner) and his father attended the benefit also and I was lucky enough to talk with them. They are very nice people and I was very impressed on how much customer service means to them. They said if anyone has an issue with their Venom float system all they have to do is contact Venom and they will take care of you.

Yep, Corey said they are pre-cutting the slit in the slip-eye for customers now. They also recommended using a box cutters/razor blade instead of a side snips. The force the side snips exerts during cutting can cause the lower end to break. This is an issue that is being corrected. But for right now, either Venom will cut the slit for you or just use a razor blade.

Of course you can always just not cut the eye and use the Venom float system on a designated float rod like I would. I have mine already set-up for some ice fishing in the next couple weeks.

Very nice, and after watching that video its easy to see how great these can be.

To anyone that has used them... Do they freeze up and does that make it difficult to adjust the float if you want to raise or lower it?

If set correctly they will not freeze up as the foam piece you move is underwater. I did miss a fish the other night because my PowerPro line froze to the side of the hole. Can't blame that on the bobber though as it went down the hole as far as the stuck line would let it.

All in all I've really liked it.

Ok so these look pretty effective, but I have one question. WHY PINK?

According to their HSOforum there will be different colors for different sizes of floats. The "pink" is the size that covers most of your needs, especially for panfish and lures up to 1/8 oz.

The other colors/sizes are supposed to be coming out yet this year.

Color-Codes:

AFS-AA Model Float – FLUORESCENT YELLOW

AFS-AB Model Float – FLUORESCENT PINK

AFS-AC Model Float – FLUORESCENT RED

AFS-AD Model Float – FLUORESCENT ORANGE

I can take this one. The foam takes a lot of abuse with the way this works. It is a high-performance molded foam, not extruded. It is simply more resiliant to abuse and will last much longer. The foam is only available in a hand-full of brighter colors.

We will have other color available in the future. Give us a bit of time as we will be forced to order in HUGE orders to make it happen. We started out aiming to have one color for use as a color-code for each of 5 models that will be unveiled in the future. We found another way to allow you to choose the foam color that you like most while still knowing what foam goes with what size lower body. Hope that helps!!

I also met Cory and his dad at the benefit. Great guys and had a really good conversation about these floats and you could tell right from the get go they were all about customer service and wanted to have the best product they could have for us.

With that additude they are well on there way to being successful.
