12 in the huddle

There are plenty of reasons the vikes lost. IMO it was the 12 man penalty that caused the desperation that lead to the turnover that cost us the win.Things that happen on the field like fumbles you don't have alot control over, coming off a timeout and getting a 12 man penalty is not exsusable. This the NFL not jr. high. How many coaches are on the side line and in the booth that should have seen that happening

The Vikings did beat themselves. They did everything they had to do to win the game and blew there chance on a 12 man in the huddle.

I would have felt better if Longwell would have miss the feild goal but now I'll always wonder "what if". This one hurts more than 98.

I`m surprised they dont have like 10 of those a game. Guys running in and out and whatever. The handoff fumble right before half was the killer. That was a huge shift in MO that I knew would take a miracle to survive. The Vikings got lucky but never got a miracle and they lost. You cannot let go of gifts like that in the NFL.

The part that irks me is THE PERSONNEL GROUP WAS DECIDED DURING A TIMEOUT! With well paid professionals and 50 some coaches on the sidelines, this shouldn't happen in a controlled time setting like a timeout... for me, if you had to pick out ONE MISTAKE that made the difference, this is it. Yeah, if AP doesn't fumble and scores a TD, we go ahead, but the entire 2nd half is different on both sides. Favre doesn't throw the second pick IF we don't have this penalty...

there were alot of things you could point to that caused this loss. However, a silly penalty in a crucial situation is inexcusable. Players make mistakes during the game, which is a lot faster than it looks on television. However, an NFL head coach should be held accountable for such a blunder. no ifs, ans, or buts about it. this is squarely on the coaching staff. you make darn sure you know who the 11 are, especially when you sub as much as you do. should have counted your 11 and had them separated from everyone else so there was no question. heck I can even count to 11. they had that game won, but our head coach blew it, plain and simple. I have said this before, and I will say it again, he is not the guy to bring what most of us fans want...a Super Bowl win....

bak2MN, its great to be a fan, isnt it? I thought during that drive that finally, finally, they were going back to the Super Bowl with a great chance to win it...then the penalty...unbelievable. this team will test your loyalty like no other...been waiting for 30+ years for just one Super Bowl win...just 1. Hate to say it, but I am convinced it will not happen with this coaching staff. I really hope Favre comes back next year and proves me wrong...we will see...

Tadster I agree.

I couldn't disagree more...the Vikes ran the Saints up and down the field and clearly outcoached them from the get-go. Their game plan worked and both offensive and defensive stats will show that. Turnovers created the situation at the end of the game...it should have been out of reach long before that whole series of events panned out.

Go back to the Dallas game...enough said!!

I think chili coached one heck of a game! We beat the Saints on both sides of the ball. When he was interviewed right before the game on the sidelines he said we are going to win this game and was extremely confident in the game plan. I have never seen him talk that way before. Unfortunately 4 different players gave the ball away 5 times. How can you possibly blame that loss on Chili?? We waxed that team outside of player mistakes.

Kinda sad that the only thing wrong with this team is the coaching staff mainly chilly.

I wonder what people will talk about years down the road about this game. It won't be any of the fumbles or interception, it will be the "12 man huddle". If Chilly is a man he will take the blame for that one. Thats what a good coach would do.

I'm sure he will...although most likely he had nothing to do with it. Bienemy, the running backs coach, is probably the one who made the mistake and can you blame the guy for being a little flustered...his star pupil just put the ball on the ground 3 times in the biggest game of the year.

with all the weapons they have on offense, it doesnt take a genius to move the ball up and down the field. The defense is Fraziers responsibility..and they did their part, obviously. The turnovers should not have happened...but they did. and Favre got them into position to win it...and then a major coaching blunder put them out of fg range. have you ever seen a Parcells, Shanahan, Cowher, or Belichek coached team have such a major coaching blunder at such a crucial time? I havent...that is why those coaches have numerous world championships under their belts. good coaching and preparedness wins close games. By the way, a good coach would take the blame for the 12 men on the field issue...players do not insert themselves into a game...coaches do. we will see what Childress has to say in his press conference later today

if you are going to blame chili for that, that's fine. he then called a play that would have put them right back in fg range had favre thrown the ball to berrian or simply ran it. so now who's fault is it? (not blaming favre but trying to simplify how too many are putting this loss on chili for one thing that may not have been his fault in the first place)
