Lighting your heater/cooker?

What do you use to light your htr/ckr up? I picked up a lantern lighter one of those with a flint on it you just twist it and it throws a spark. Its a replacement part. Will this work if i permanently mount it on there or will the heat from the htr ruin it? I looked at the pic of the lantern and its close to the mantel but the htr throws a bit more heat.Just thought it would be better then digging for a match or a lighter when hands are cold...

I don't think an extra lighter just for your heater is necessary. I have a single burner sunflower (Basically the same thing) - I just flick my Bic.

Mine's a tank mount, I hold the lighter at the bottom because the unlit propane seems to drop on it's way out. Light the lighter first, then open the gas. I always light outside too, to be safe.

I stuck on a strip of extra fine sand paper with double sided tape to the top of my propane tanks and I just use the old fashioned 'strike anywhere' stick matches. I tried the grill lighters but they'd always fail me when I needed them. Usually it would be too cold and the gas wouldn't flow. With the matches, I don't touch the head and it's always a go.
