JoeTC
How do mounts turn out on fish that are speared? Can the taxidermist hide the holes or are there just marks where it was speared? Thanks,Joe
merkman
I think elwood can answer this one.... they say a picture is worth a thousand words!!!
buckhunter21
My dad speared a 22 pounder about 10 years ago and had it mounted. The spear mark ran all the way down the side but the taxidermist did an awesome job covering it up. You really cant notice it unless you know its there. The holes on the back are a little more noticeable but still hidden pretty well and most people cant tell that it was speared. I think it really will depend on your taxidermist, Im sure some will do a better job than others at covering up the marks.
harvey lee
The holes can be fixed so they are not noticeable.

Gordie
Hey I've seen that pike before. my taxidermist had it all mounted and you couldnt even tell the holes were in the fish. I told him what I wanted to do so he set up the mount and I made the spear and he had it set above the fish with the tines running the length of the fish so when I went to pick it up I told him thats not how I wanted it so together we changed it to the way it is and the spear is acctually in the holes where I hit the pike in the first place. taxidermist can do wonders with a airbrush and some epoxy Oh and thanks Merk

Capt'nMorgan
mine turned out really well, the only place I can see anything is on the side were the spear cut the outside edge but he did a great job fixing most of it
