Went spearing today

I had the day off work today so I figured I would hit the hard water. The ice varied from about 2 to 4 inches. I didn't see any fish and the lake (Marion) was pretty murky, but at least I got out!

just curious...whats the biggest pike you've gotten out of marion? i got a FAT 26 inch from that exact spot you're at, but i wouldn't call that a big fish.

i've fished marion my whole life and i've never really noticed any big pike in there

wow, this is crazy.; I dont have enought gutz to get out already. Just not enough ice for me.

I think your going to have to give the lakes a few weeks to cool down ones once the ice gets on top so they can clear up

This was my first time on Marion, I went down there because I read people were fishing it yesterday and I didn't want to be the first guy on the ice. I tried two different spots, both were about 5 feet deep...I couldn't see the bottom in the first one. There was another guy out fishing and he had two tip-ups out and I had one tip-up out as my second line and I just left a window down so I could take a look every couple minutes.

im not suprised. This lake is horrible in the summer time. Does it gett clear in the winter, i find it hard to believe it does?

This was my first time on that lake. I would assume it gets clear in the winter and the DNR's Lake Finder says it's water clarity is 8.8 feet.

8.8 isnt bad! hopefully it will get better for you! Everytime i was out tehre in the summer, it was horrible. but maybe its alot better int he winter. Keep me posted, im interested to hear how it turns

got otu for two hours late this morning and man it was nice to use the Norwiegin fish finder once again. Saw a flash of a pike but no shot taken. I'm 10fow and there is 4 1/2 inches of good icecant wait till morning.
