swedish pimple question

who do swedish pimples come with an extra single hook, split ring and flipper? do people change the treble hook to the single hook? how do you guys normally fish your swedish pimples? minnow head? wax worm?

I usually go with a treble and head. Sometimes I'll hook a whole minnow right below the dorsal. I think the extras you get are so you can change things up to fit your style or the bite.

ok thanks guys. last winter, i used the treble hook and a big minnow head. did pretty well for walleyes. just curious what you guys use (treble/single), and if you guys have success with them

This is just my theory, but I believe they include the single hook because it's a popular lure (winter and summer) for trout, and lot's of trout waters may only allow the use of single hooks. On that note, I use the treble hook and put on lot's of euro's.

I like to put a Halle chain on it with the single hook, then minnow head, spikes or waxies

I switch the hook to a Gamakatsu Siwash. I feel that I get better hookset retention with that type of hook (fewer get-offs). Normally, I use the front half of the minnow.

I swap the hook out with a red, non treble hook and tail hook a minnow. Tail hooking a minnow to me gives them more action and improves the shine

I use the Hali chains for droppers on almost all my vertical perch lures...whether I am using the Hali, a Buckshot Rattle Spoon, a Swedish Pimple, Kastmaster...whatever. I generally use a treble hook and minnow head.

Sometimes when the bite is slow I'll take the hook off and tie a piece of flourocarbon on and use a small single hook on the end of that. Same idea as the Hali w/chain just more subtle.

Swedish pimples are my go to lure for Walleyes. I use all different sizes depending on the bite and what I'm fishing for. I've caught everything on them, eye's, Pike, Trout, Perch, Crappy, Sunnys. I use a treble hook and again use different bait depending on what I'm going for. But mostly minnow heads. One little trick I like to use for bring in fish or to find out what mood they are in. Is to get three of the same color from really big, down to a very small. Start out pounding the bottom with the big one and if they take it great! If they don't I keep down sizing until I find the size they like, but keeping the same colors. I have a ton of lures, but keep going back to the Swed, when nothing else seems to be working.
