Ice Fishing Bachelor Party

I have decided to take a good friend of mine ice fishing for his bachelor party. 2 people will be driving from Sioux Falls, SD and 2 of us will be driving from St. Paul. I am wondering what would be the nicest, closest, best opportunitty to catch some fish???

Awesome idea for a bach party! This is a once in a lifetime event so it calls for a once in a lifetime fishing trip. I highly recommend Lake of the Woods. The fishing in December is the best walleye/sauger fishing in the world. Mid winter it slows down a bit but is still far above any other lakes in the state. Make this a memory he won't forget! Go pound some walleyes on the BIG POND!!!

I think it depends on your priorities in a Bachelor party. Mille Lacs will probably have the most extensive variety in rentals, it's a fact that there is a "nightlife" on the lake, but the fishing is pretty hit-or-miss. If you are looking for actual fishing, maybe look into an area that is more in the middle: Swan Lake by New Ulm seems to be a good fit, and there's plenty of lakes in the Willmar area. I've not fished either of those areas, but I bet you'd save money over a Mille Lacs trip and may be able to get a guide service for the difference.

if you want to drive a little bit...go to wigwam on lake of the woods...they have a great bar area and they have live bands on the weekends. the bar area has 3 bars. i guess it gets pretty rowdy on the weekends. they will put you on fish too.

Did the same thing last year here on the alexandria chain, fun fun. Lake darling offers some great fishing, and arrow wood resort is right on the lake. Plus 7 other bars within 5 miles. Have fun and be safe!

A few years ago there was a group of guys having a bachelors party at the Wig Wam Lodge at Lake of the Woods. They did it up pretty good and had lots of the crowd joining in to help them celebrate. Wigwam has a great bar and restaurant as well as transportation their full service day houses. I wonder if there may have been some empty houses the day after the party.

from sioux falls, mille lacs is like 5 hrs 15min, and leech is like 5 hrs 40 min. all according to mapquest. also according to mapquest, warroad (LOW) is 7 hrs 11 min from sioux falls by going north on hwy 29. if you are looking for a experience to match level of the occasion, i would suggest going to the best walleye ice fishing lake in the world, LOW. if you going 5+ hrs to mille lacs or leech, whats 2 more hrs to get to LOW?

also note, from st paul to warroad it is right around 7 hrs. 2hrs from st paul to mille lacs, and 3.5 hrs to leech. its a lot of driving from sioux falls regardless of where you go.

When are you looking at for the weekend? You could hit Brainerd on January 23rd for the big Ice Fishing Extravaganza. It's an ice fishing party already made with a ton of prizes. Could get a unit at Grandview, hit the kick off party on Friday night with beer tasting etc, then they shuttle you out to the ice for the big event on Saturday. Can you imagine winning a new truck or an ATV for a bachelor party. Probably his last chance to get one of these once he gets married.

My and I did this two years ago for my bachelor party. We went to URL and got a sleeper. The weekend was great however, we only caught 1 walleye. Don't get me wrong we drank at every bar between Duluth and red, drank a 16 gallon keg, went to the bars Sat nite, and drank bloodies all the way home. I would recommend going to LOTW or Millacs. I know the walleye bit on LOTW is second to none and some of the resorts are great. Any way you do it you will have a killer time and maybe even catch a fish or two, Enjoy it man!!

Call triple A exotic dancers. They will set you up. My buddy had them out on a launch boat before. They are the best looking "entertainers" you can find. I highly recommend the lesbian show. spendy but well worth it!!

Come on now lets keep this forum "Family Friendly"!!

ya no kidding. NO STRIPPERS! Just clean fun... a good burger and a beer paired with good conversation is all wee need. I am currently stuck between LOTW and Mille Laccs. What are the chances of getting decent fishing up on mille laccs?? The only time I went to M.L. ice fishing I got skunked...

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
