Lite Propane Cylinders

Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone has used a Lite Cylinder (google it) for propane? I am looking for something to replace the 20lb. beast that is being used. I fish alone quite a bit and these seem to be lighter than typical cylinders and I can visually see how much propane I've got. Any thoughts or experience?

I think the one advantage that a 20 lb cylinder has is the ability to swap them.

My local lumber yard chain has a kiosk out side the door that I can swap my empty for a full one 24 hrs a day.

I just have to keep telling myself that everytime I move or bump into that darn thing.

If these take off to the level of a standard 20 lber It may be a good idea.

Right now for me everything that is bad about a 20 lber is made up for by it being the "standard"

$90 for a 10lb cylinder is the cheapest I could find from google. Seems like a neat idea, but not worth the upfront cost for me yet...

Have you seen them cheaper? I've been thinking about picking up a 5-10lb tank just to keep the sled a little lighter this year.

shnelson, WHERE ARE YOU SHOPPING!!!!???? You should EASILY be able to buy a 5# or an 11# for well under $60 (I've bought 5's for less than $30 on sale!!) Phred52

I was referring to the 10# lite propane tanks that you can see through. I have seen the regular LP tanks for much cheaper than $90 smile.

My neighbor is the MN distributor for at least one of the brands of them. I don't know if he has 10 pounders but I know he has 20's Let me know if you are interested and I will pass along your info to him. I will also ask about pricing

Thats pretty cool. Never seen one of those before. If it's that much lighter that would be sweet. Even when mine is empty it's still a pig.

I really like that you can see how much propane is left too. That would make things so much easier. No running out midway through a trip because I have no idea how much I had to start with.

Sutty. I'd like to see what a 10lb. tank costs. Let me know if you need any info. from me.

I think they are a neat idea. I run a 2-man shelter solo quite a bit so I'm looking to save weight anywhere I can. I like the ability to eye out how much propane is left in the tank as well. 30% lighter and a 15 year warranty isn't too bad either.

Before you guys buy them make sure you can get them filled!

Because they are new the people who fill them may not be up to speed on them. When they first appeared a couple years ago we where told not to fill them unil further notice. I know most of the propane suppliers (ferrell, lakes gas, etc) should have no problem filling them. The local fillers might not be up to speed on the composite tanks.

OK have a little info to pass along. Currently they just have the 20 lbers but are checking on ordering the smaller ones and how much they would be etc.

The 20 lbers are nice for grilling because you can see how much is left so you don't run out. The price on the 20's is 79 which includes the LP on your first fill. I believe he will also deliver them in the metro for no extra charge. If you are out state he will ship them or I suppose send them along with me if I am heading out fishing somewhere...

It's actually a pretty smart idea for the gas companies to make these...Think how many people will return them with gas still in them so they don't run out. a few million people return those with 1/8 to 1/16 left of gas...well thats alot of gas their saving. They should be selling these for CHEAP to get out to the public to start using and while WE'll benifit from not running out of gas, THEY'LL benifit from saving gas/money in the long run!! Heck I'd buy one and I consider myself a Cheap AZZ!!LOL

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
