dustin85
I've been seeing a couple ads on c. list lately by people trying to sell deer meat. Is that legal to do without some kind of permit? I tried to look at the regs on line, but the dnr site isnt working for me right now, and I can't find my book. Thanks!
Big Buck Buster
I know when we get our deer processed, the casings state "not for resale" on them.
DrKen
Selling wild game in minnesota is illegal. It's in the regulation book. Can give it away but you can't sell wild game. You can sell game farm raised venison or other animals. Thus it would depend on how the venison is obtained.

CRAZYEYES
I dont think that i'd eat meat bought off there. Who knows what some of theese people would sell you.
BlueLundFishrman
I know when we get our deer processed, the casings state "not for resale" on them. The place you take the deer (beef, pork, elk, etc) has to stamp in not for resale. It's not theirs to sell. Any meat they sell has to be USDA inspected. I wouldn't sell any venison I get. I work too darn hard for it.
not_nuf_time
You can give it away, your also suppose-to supply a registration number to someone you give it to. I think!
harvey lee
I do believe a carcass tag or the license number needs to stay with the meat until it is consumed.

B@ssDoctor
If you responded to the add, you would most likely run into an undercover CO or possibly could be game farm like Old World Venison. Did they say they shot it in the ad? I see no ads looking to sell, but I do see people willing to barter for some chops.
dustin85
I definatly would not want to pick any of that meat up...I just thought that I had read somewhere that it could not be sold without a permit or something. The last ad that I saw was in the barter section. The poster said they had too much, and wanted to trade for cash, guns, etc. It did not say that they shot it, or whether or not it was from a game farm. Not trying to stir anything up, it just got me wondering.
LightningBG
The original post asked if it was legal, not if it was advisable. For all the info we have on this post, it could be a licensed butcher shop selling farm raised venison, advertising on C-list Perfectly legal.Legal? Farm raised-yes, Wild-NoAdvisable? Probably not.
