Wobbler, are you the guy who posted last year about his hunting camp issues with another family or hunting partners? If so, that was an interesting post and an upate on the new camp and situation in general would be interesting. Good luck with the new building.

I searched quick and you were. Update please if you have time since that was an interesting/entertaining post, one of the better I read last season. And pics if possible (of the new shack, lol) as that is a serious man-law violation not to provide.

Deerminator,

Yes that was me that posted that "Camp Kitty" post last year. Yes things this year are much different and a huge relief. If any of you want to read what a bad hunting partner was read my post from last year around this time. An update is this. My dad, brother, and I built a new cabin on our own land which is right next to where our old lease was. We own 80 acres and we built a palace compared to our old place. 20x28 with a huge sleeping loft above just an incredible place. We worked our tails off to complete this before this bird season. I have never uploaded photos but would be happy to share and if I could email to someone them I would be happy too. Anyways the short end of it is this, the guy and his son were upset and still may be upset as we have not signed over the County hunting lease but have told them they can do what they want with the old shack. It is hard to just give something away when you have a hunting tradition and to give it to someone who breaks rules. It is not the son's fault and he wants to move on but at some point that still needs to be addressed but as of now we will decide after this hunting season. The lease has value and it is not about money but what that place means to me and the rest of my family members. There are lots of good things that happened there and every time I drive by I feel anger as we were the ones who had to move on and not him. The man at fault said he would not sell it to us for any price when we asked him to leave so that is where we are at now as he wants us to give it to him. What is it worth money wise who knows? All I know is I don't have to baby sit him, worry about him shooting extra deer, not being able to drink in front of him, or hear comments about my wife. Which means 9 days of relaxing and hoping Mr. Talltines steps out!

Wobbler, glad to hear things will go better. That stinks about the old situation. So you co-own the old lease still? With your own land now and no other worries, you sort of have him in a tough place of his own finally? Can you just sell or sublet to somone else? Not that anyone would want to move in there on that lease with that guy. But you could say, oh, walk all over the property and sort of scare everything out to your's for the week before opener! I'm more of a just move on and get on with your new situation kind of guy, but with all this jerk put you through, why should you be denied pre-season scouting trips on your co-leased property? Maybe hide and put up windchimes around stand sites so they'll be going off like fire bells on opening morning for them? You can enjoy them from a distance. Harmless but fun stuff like that.

It is tough in that we still have deer stands over there. We co-own the county lease (3 Acres basically where the shack sits and driveway and the lease is the price of the taxes) and still continue to share the taxes as well. It is tough because the son asked my dad to sign the lease over to him but I told him have your dad drop his name if you want to make sure you have a stake in it someday as his name is NOT on the lease. See we worry at some point if we do that since St. Louis County has no more hunting shack leases if we sign it over for nothing they will turn around and sell it. So we really don't want to give it away and they sell it and 20 guys start hunting there either. So weighing it out we would just like to move on but we also want to protect what we have as well. The windchimes would be good but we really don't want to tork that guy off either!
