World Series Thread

I agree with you about Cleveland. They had a team full of all stars and now they are all playing for different playoff teams because of the unfair salary structure in MLB.

Cliff Lee

CC Sabathia

Victor Martinez

Manny Ramirez

Casey Blake

Jim Thome

Think they could win with some of those guys mixed in with Sizemore, Haefner and the rest? You darn right they could. They would be on of the best teams in baseball.

I guess in this case, maybe no salary cap is kind of a good thing. With this lineup, history might show a different listing of AL central titles the past couple years.

Cleveland owned the central division in the 90's! And unlike the twins now, they could win in the playoffs...just couldn't pull off the world series. For whatever reason though the '07 season ended up being a fluke...they were everyone's pick to be the division champs last year. Obviously the past 2 seasons haven't been very good for them. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the yankees' fans in grief throughout the game smile

What bugs me about the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers and other high dollar teams is the fact they get their pick of all the international players. For example- some hot shot pitcher from Cuba and the Yankees grab him. An OFer from Japan and Dodgers grab him. To me, these players need to be drafted, which means teams like the Royals, Nationals, etc get fair shake at them. I don't like the fact they can just be signed and can forego the draft

It still comes down to money. If they are such good players, the small market teams likely would not be able to sign them anyway. Thats why they are being signed by the teams with the money. Its just like signing an unrestricted free agent.

The draft is an amateur draft, all those guys from japan are in pro leagues, so they'd be ineligable for the draft anyway. When the red sox went after dice-k (have no clue how to spell his name), they had to pay the team he was on about $50 million just to meet with him, not to mention the amount his contract was. I don't know how the deals with matsui, ichiro, contreras, or fukodome went down though.

In my opinion, overseas pro leagues should not factor in. I understand about the buyouts (Twolves, Rubio) but all the other teams should have at least a fair shake. If they can't afford them or their buyouts, don't draft them.

This is the game I expected the phillies to lose anyway, the problem is, I figured they'd win game 2. Yanks are taking a chance though putting all their pitchers out there on short rest. I think the phillies can steal game 4...and then cliff lee on full rest will out pitch burnett and phillies take a 3-2 lead. As of now, I have no guess on game 6.

I will never predict playoff baseball ever again! The only series I got right was the twins getting swept frown

I picked the cardinals to win it all, they were the very firt team eliminated! I picked the red sox to beat down the angels, they got swept. I picked the angels to beat the yanks, didn't happen. Then I pick the phillies to man handle the yanks, vice versa.
