Pileated Woodpecker (male)

Recommended Posts

Either the woodpeckers have gotten tired of eating my apples, or decided the bugs on the stump are better. I captured this one between rain squalls yesterday:

DSC_0957.JPG

ISO: 2000

Exposure: 1/125 sec

Aperture: 6.3

Focal Length: 500mm

I'm really impressed with how the D300s performs at high ISO, and the image stabilizer in the Sigma 150-500.

Nicely done John-you've got the background "out" just enough and yet the color is still strong.

I have those big rascals all over my deck sometimes and they are on the beef blubber feeder out front all the time.
