Has anybody ever used this. Plug it into your computer, plug the phone line into the "magic jack" and you get free phone service.

I don't use it, but I do know of someone that uses it for a fax line, no problems at all, except you need to have the computer running all of the time.

Have heard bad things such as no number to call for customer service etc. Check it out carefully.

I have heard nothing but horrow stories! Google it and check the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

I had Magic Jack and it was OK but had to have computer on. Worked sometime and sometimes it didn't. You should look at ooma. Just google it and go to the HSOforum. I bought one about 6 months ago and it has worked great. Works just like a phone line. No computer needs to be on. You just need a high-speed internet connection. I get a free voicemail box that will text me and send an email. Also, has caller ID and call waiting. I bought mine off of Amazon and got a free ipod shuffle. Look around you can get a good deal.

I did some research on this as I was interested in it and the cost savings.

I found nothing but negative issues and stayed away from it.

As your only phone service I still have my doubts. As a second line or a traveling phone why not. Plug it into your laptop, get a headset, and as long as you have an internet connection you have phone service (I know cell phones yada yada but I can think of plenty of places that I can't get phone service that I can get free wireless). Have relatives out of state? Activate magic jack at your home send it to them and anytime they want to call they plug it in and call.

I have read about so many issues with Majicjack that I would not connect to it. It looks like a great deal but many have found out otherwise.

I also watched a show on like 60 minutes about MJ and they had nothing good to say about it. at all.

I looked into it (MJ) and decided on Vonage instead. I have been using it for 2 months now and I'm very pleased.

I've got Magic Jack and have not had any major issues with it. I use my cell 99% of the time - so it hasn't had a ton of testing with me. Seems the sound quality is not 100% all of the time, but decent for the money.

I have inlaws in Poland, CA and ND and they all use skype. they all love it. I used it a few times to call the US when I was in poland and it worked great.

I use it to call all over the country for work and it is dirt cheap.

Drawbacks are I need to restart the application that runs on my PC sometimes with PC on all the time.

My wife claims she doesn't like the call quality but I like it better than my cell phone.

Mileage may vary but if it works for you it is a great deal with little risk.

I had Magic Jack running for a while. It would lock up my computer at random. I called their customer service and they told me I have to disable my McAfee virus protection for it to work right. Give me a break! Like I'm going to leave my computer unprotected.

So to make a short story long... I no longer use it and I don't recommend it.
