I have an 2003 strikemaster and an year old eskimo. Never used the the eskimo yet it's the mako model. Mixed the strikemaster 40:1 heard of alot of guys going leaner wondering what oil i can do that with, Amsoil or them saber packets?

I use Amsoil Sabre Pro at a 80-1 ratio, which is 1.6 oz per gallon of gas. A lot of guys run it at a 100-1 (1.3 oz per gal) with no issues. For breakin on a new motor I would recommend either the factory recommended ratio with any 2 stroke oil or Amsoil Sabre at 50-1 (2.5 oz per gal).

You can get the pillow packs or an 8 oz bottle (which I prefer).

where can a guy get some amsoil in the south metro?

You can go to the AMSOIL HSOforum and go to the dealer locator. Just put in your zip code and it will give you the closest dealers.

Also, you can buy it online from a FM sponsor - theoilman. You can google his HSOforum.

Running Amsiol Sabre Pro at 80-1 has a minimal difference IMHO to 100-1, just a hint more smoke. If you'd like, you can thin it out by adding more gas to the mixed tank. 1.5 oz at 100-1 ratio will need just over 1 1/8 gallons of gas, so a "long" gallon will get you there. I run 80-1 just so I have a little wiggle room if I misjudge my oil pouring.

If you already ran a tank of 40-1 for breakin, you can go to 80-1 WITH A SYNTHETIC OIL like Amsoil Sabre Pro and be just fine.

I started running Amsoil Sabre 100:1 in my auger 3 or 4 years ago. All my freinds thought I was nuts. Theyre like "your gonna blow up your auger". I will never again run the strikemaster or cheaper conventional oils at 25:1 it blows nasty [PoorWordUsage] out allover your shack and on the ice and into our ecosystem. I put in a Halo small engine plug and my 11 yr old strikemaster starts first pull weather its -30 or +30. 93 Octane non ethanol and 2 capfulls of sea foam per gallon. She runs pretty mean and clean for being a 2 stroke grin

The "pillow packs" of the AMSOIL Saber Professional are 1.5 oz, meant to mix 1 gallon of gas - if you get absolutely all of it out of the packet you will be a little richer than the 100-1. Many FMers prefer to be richer at around 80-1, though many use it at the leaner 100-1 - and all are happy with it. At 80-1 it is still nearly smokeless.

A new auger you can still use the Saber Professional, but I recommend running it at 50-1 for the first gallon of gas.

It is also available in larger packages: also popular is the 8-oz bottle that will mix 5 gallons at 80-1 or 6 gallons at 100-1. If you use a lot of gas this is definitely cheaper. If you just use a couple of gallons in a season I would stick with the pillow packets.

Amsoil Saber 100:1 here ... When I switched and put it in my father-in-laws old eskimo, it started and ran better & stronger then ever. I've been running it in my SM lazer ever since (except the first tank for break-in period).

Love that stuff.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
