MNpurple
I wear contacts and the wind dries my eyes out pretty quickly making all day hunts tough by the end of the day even if I do use rewetting drops, so my genious idea is to wear a small pair of swimming goggles to cut out the wind. I would look like and [PoorWordUsage] (even more) but it might work, whatcha think?
tracker x-2
Sounds like it might work if they dont fog up. Maybe a little show and tell is in store .
CRAZYEYES
Sounds like it might be a good idea for anyone bird hunting as long as they dont fog. I bet I have not shot at a lot of grouse because I was to busy protecting my eyes while walking through some thick woods. Also think it would be a nice plan for walking in the corn pheasant hunting. I'm sure that I have been smacked in the face by a few corn stalks.
Big A
Not sure I could launch rounds from my shotgun without driving the goggle permanently into my face.. but then again.. I have also never tried it.One word of advice. If your going to use regular swim goggles.. prior to putting them on.. spit into each lense and rub it around with your finger. Then use some water to rinse them out. Believe it or not... this is a great anti-fog technique.Otherwise spend a few extra bucks to get some anti-fog lenses or spray.. but even with those.. spit helps and works !Just sayin.. Wallydog
Why not just score a pair of wrap around style shooting glasses.....WD
Neighbor_guy
Yea, some good wrap around style shooting glasses should work for you. Although mine fogged up a bit in the rain we had last weekend.
MNpurple
I've tried the shooting glasses and the wind can still really get inside of them, unless I can maybe find a tighter fitting pair.
Neighbor_guy
You know....We have some goofy safety glasses at work. Whey are made to prevent dust and what not from getting between the lenses and your eyes. There is a layer of foam around the frames that fit to your face. We got them from Grainger.....I also have a pair of "safety goggles" that I use in the boat. Colored lenses like shooting glasses, but with a foam gasket around the frames like ski goggles. Got them at Gander in the ATV dept. Not sure if I could get a good cheek weld on the gun if I was wearing either pair though. But they are an alternative for you to look into. delcecchi
There are some brands of sunglasses (Wiley-X?) that have a seal to your face thing. Just looked and they have something called "facial cavity seal". More money than swim goggles but probably more comfortable and look better. Also function as safety glasses. MNpurple
Great couple of ideas. I checked out ATV glasses online and they seal to your face with the foam padding as stated. $20 and although they dont look nearly as stylish as the swim goggles would , I think they will work great. Thanks for the tips guys.
gspman
I use Wiley-X Sabre shooting glasses for hunting and clays. They work very nice. They aren't the seal around the face kind though.
Surface Tension
I'd do the shooting glasses or safety glasses.
Phred52
MNPurple, Another New Ulmer tried the swim goggles and they helped with the drying out but did fog up, now he wears wrap around clear safety goggles, they fit quite snugly but they don't fog. They're like clear shooting glasses. Phred52
