The running excuse is that he has yet to developed his timing with Favre.

It sure looked like Brett had his timing down with Berrian.

Kinda seems like Brett is tryin to kill Berrian with the football when he throws to him. Farve's arm is still got it....sometimes too much.

Nope. A QB guns a ball where it has to go. The slower the throw, the more likely a DB will get a read on it and pick it off.

If Berrian can't handle a Favre bullet in the hands (even though Favre's bullets don't have as much punch as they did 10 years ago), he needs to retire and start a fast food franchise.

Or, if he doesn't want to go down in history as the founder of the Berrian Burger (more style than substance), he should learn to catch passes that are aimed at his numbers or hit both of his hands.

Bottom line is the Queens won the game. Not that Berrian got a bye because of that. I reckon his arse is still stinging over the singeing it got from all those dropped balls.

Absolutely correct on the speed/power of the balls. Berrian is a hell of an athlete, but if he can't handle heavy passes, that's going to keep him from becoming the guy we remember over Percy Harvin, and along with Adrian Peterson. Our team has the chance to be very memorable, and they all need to come together (even more than they have already) to make sure it's a positive memory. We could just as easily remember these next two years as Romo-esque: tons of talent, but can't work together to win the big games.

I don't know what game you were watching, but on the Vikings team I watched Sunday, Berrian dropped far more than 2 passes. Sure it's early in the season, but he gets paid a sizeable income to catch a ball. You'd think he could put a little more effort into it.

This from Viking Update dot com

WR Bernard Berrian is third on the Vikings with 10 receptions but he also had a couple of drops on Sunday, including one that could have gone for substantial yardage. Berrian was sidelined for much of the preseason by a hamstring injury and did not catch a pass in the opener. Since then he has been thrown to 15 times. A team-leading six passes were directed his way in Week 2 against Detroit and he caught all of them. On Sunday, he had nine passes thrown to him and caught four of them for 56 yards. He is averaging only 10

I guess he missed 5 on sunday, but he caught all 6 that were thrown to him in week 2. My point being is that everybody has an off day once in a while....hey, AP has had 2 games now where he hasn't gone over 100 yards rushing, do you think we should bench him too??

This is like comparing apples to oranges. If AP decides to run left instead of thru a gaping hole to the right time and time again, then yes it's time to sit him. Just because a running back isn't putting up big numbers doesn't mean that he isn't doing his job. When balls hit wideouts in the hands and they drop them, that's unacceptable. Especially from our "leading" wideout. Berrian is supposed to be leading our receiving corps; not necessarily in yards or receptions, but being a leader is setting a good example for the young fellas. This includes performing when the game is on the line. I don't think anyone is suggesting berrian get benched, but better performance would be nice!

I guess we can give him the benefit of the doubt on one poor game. Albeit a really poor game he almost single handedly lost it for us with all those drops, killing drives, and one resulting in a pick.

Point being, for a quote #1 receiver he seems pretty injury prone and there's no excuses for dropping those passes right off his hands. Hope he gets it together and quick.

I don't have the numbers infront of me, but how many of these were inside 10 yards? According to the stats they've been showing for Favre, the majority of his passes have been completed inside of 10 yards. When they finally open the book up for Favre, it takes a new guy on the team (Greg Lewis) to show them how it's done.

That being said, Lewis showed us what he's capable of. I hope to see more going his way Monday night.

He was able to hook up with Lewis because Favre had already been flushed out of the pocket and Lewis had already made his cut to the outside in the end zone, there was nowhere else that he was going to go except for out the back of the end zone. The plays where Berrian zigged and Farve zagged are clearly a case of Berrian running his route and Favre expecting him to pull out of his route because of something that he saw on the defense. I'm getting sick of hearing it too, but that is just the two of them getting on the same page and knowing what the other is going to do in any given situation.

It will come around, just give it some time. I guess my point is that I get tired of people that claim to be fans and when one guy has a bad game they immediately start yelling that the guy should be benched. Like I said before...just give it a little time, hey we're 3 and 0, enjoy it. And in a few days we'll be 4 and 0.. grin

Zigging...Zagging.....it makes no difference when you're staring right at Favre when the ball hits you in the numbers only to be dropped.

I'm not saying bench Berrian. Only that he needs to make the catch when Favre does his part and puts it on target.

Very well put! You hit the nail on the head for the timing issues. It still doesn't explain the dropped passes that hit him in the hands.

I am also optimistic that Berrian will come around. The best thing for him is that Percy, Shiancoe, Rice, Lewis, and AP are playing very well. Berrian is still our number one target beyond the LOS, and he's getting covered as such. We've connected with enough of our other options that defenses will have to start to spread coverage around and Berrian will find his stride. When that happens, no one has enough to cover all of our weapons!

I am glad some of you arent the coach of this team! Tell us how the crow tastes this morning.

What crow? smirk A good number of us weren't impressed with his performance last week and felt he should've done better.

Glad to see BB pulled it together lastnight. wink
