fishinchicks
My daughter went last year with my cousin's family. I'll have to ask her what she thinks you should look for. They tailgated and had a blast. Look up the raceway's HSOforum, and look for the fan info. It will tell you what you can and cannot bring in. Saves a lot of headache.I am very jealous of you guys! Have fun, and give us a report when you get back!

Uncle Bill
I was there for a Busch race. Track is nice. Big screen TV's so the crowd can watch replays of crashes and spins. Pits are in full view of the stands so bring your binochs. There really is not a bad seat in the house. We drove down Friday, stayed 50 miles north in Missouri. Tailgated some before the race. Watched the race, had a sober driver so we drove back home after the race. It was fun. I would definitely do it again.
crothmeier
cool, im looking forward to it, and did check out the HSOforum. thanks for input i'll report back on my experience!
lawdog
I've been there three times. we always camp on the infield so i don't have much info about outside the track. definitely plan on going to the souvenir trailers and seeing the sights for a good long time before the race and plan on a good hour plus of slow traffic if you leave right away but its not a bad place to get in and out of. There is a Cabela's right across from the track you can always kill some time in there too.Good to check on the restrictions on coolers, bags etc, they enforce that pretty tough.Have fun. harvey lee
Check out the scanner rental if you don't already own one. Keeps one up on some of the drivers if you want to listen in.
fishinchicks
I was thinking the same thing, harvey. If you rent your scanner right away when you get there, you will avoid the long lines of the last minute guys.
crothmeier
i think my father has a guy that owns a few and is goign to borrow them to us. scanners seem like a fun thing

crothmeier
yeah wow. holy carp are they loud. i expected loud but not that loud. Very cool experience. We got to tour the pits before hand and sit in a tent and listen to gordon and rick hendrick. The nationwide race was great also, logano picked up the win in the last 3 laps. PIKEBAY where did you sit? we were in between the start finish and turn 4, halfway up the lower level. the scanners were very cool, i was on JR's channel when crew chief radio'd him to come back in for loose lugnut on right rear. it was all bad for him from that point on. Juan Montoya was fun to listen to with is accent. Greg Biffle gets very animated on the radio
PikeBayCommanche
We were in 119 16th Row. Just past the Start/Finish toward Turn 1.I was loud but sweet. We had the Racing Electronics Gemini. They were nice because we could all talk to each other with the microphones on the headsets. It was a nice feature along with the scanner. What I can't believe is how many JR fans there actually are. It is ridiculous. There is nobody even close to his numbers. He seems to be cursed though. Had a fast car out in clean air he was not to be touched but got a lap down and that was that.Seemed like the dirty air was the end of you yesterday. Jimmy got shuffled back and could never climb out.Biffle was salty when Papis got in his way. We were listening to him when it happened.Bad things that they need to fix. Concession condiments were out after 10 minutes and never replaced.ATM's were out of cash and people could not get money.
crothmeier
yeah we were in 132 row 21. the JR fans far outnumbered everyone else. I wonder if he did have the fan following he did if he would be in a race car. Those electronics would have been nice. we would have to take the earplug out and scream to hear each other. I never bought any food, or used the atm so i didnt experience those problems, as we brought in softside coolers with beer/pop/water and snacks. That was definitly the best and cheapest route to go. Brooky
I was there as well on the backstretch in the motor home terrace. I just got back last night and I have a ton of photos to edit. I'll post some here when I find time to do that. Here's one shot that gives you an idea of where we watch the race from. Logano spinning out early in the race.
