Deep cycle batteries

I'd buy anything with a decent warranty... A lot of mfg's out there offer 3 year warranties and will replace the battery if it stops working properly. Heck, you might want to see if those Interstate batteries you had trouble with are still under warranty.

One of the batteries went bad shortly after I bought them. It tested bad when I brought it in, but they "baked" it by placing a very high charge on it for a while. After this, it tested good, but just didn't hold a charge very long. Since it now tested good, they couldn't warranty it. Now, after just over two years of use, I brought them both back in, and they both tested bad. Well, now with the pro-rated warranty, I get $10 credit per battery. I'm not buying any more of this brand though.

(24V)I've been using my Optima's for 2 seasons and normally I have to replace them each season. They were 250 each though - OWE! But so far no complaints from me and they get used quite a bit. I used to use Trojan's and replaced those each year.

I have 3 Optima blue tops that I bought at Costco in my Ranger 620VS for my 2 36 volt trolling motors. I am into my 3rd year with these batteries and I think they are the best. I have not had an issue with them. yes they are expensive but I now believe they do last twice as long as the others. I also take them out of my boat in the winter, fully charge them and store them in a heated storage area. I think this is important!

I am on 3rd year with this set of Interstate and have had no problems. I fish at least 10 days a month 8 months of the year on these. Have had 3 boats with Interstate and never had a problem. Talking to some battery guys and a pal on Optima pro staff and they said maybe you will get longer life, but time to discharge is about the same.

If you are still looking at batteries you might want to check out the Cabela's AGM batteries. They are glass matt batteries so they are a little pricy but they should last you a long time. A little more bang for your buck in reserve time and amps than the 6 pack type.
