zepman
Gophers played very well IMO. Everyone in the country knows the Gophers aren't as talented as Cal. but that doesn't mean they can't show up one afternoon and beat them head to head. Mistakes, penalties, turn-overs, etc. are all part of the game...just because Cal didn't play a perfect game doesn't take away what the Gophers were able to do through three plus quarters. The game will be a nice recruiting tool for Brewster this year as well.
PierBridge
I think the insane ticket prices for non-Students will keep me away for a while. I hope to make one game this year if some of my future Bet's come in...LOL!
so haaad
A great road victory for the Gophers today. It was really nice to see them establish the running game. It was also nice to see them use Marquis Gray a little more. He's got some serious talent.
LMITOUT
Looks like the ol' ball coach keeps his job another week, although I'm not sure a win over Northwestern is that resume worthy.
CJH
Looks like the ol' ball coach keeps his job another week, although I'm not sure a win over Northwestern is that resume worthy. While not super impressive they did lose to them last year!!! Hopefully they will gain some confidence and take it to the badgers next week! LMITOUT
Iowa just showed what you do when you play a top 10 team on THEIR field. Boy, did Cal lay an egg today against an unranked team......
zepman
Iowa looked really great in their season opener against LOFTY UNI too. Get real.
Mudcutter
First off-- PSU a top 5 team-- no way.2nd off- UNI is not a bad team. in state recruting deal and all. They will likely win the D2 title this year. ANd, don't knock the Hawks. Ferentz coaches them to get better throughout the year. Not a better coach in all the land. I'am a Gopher fan, but trust me on this, expect a beat down when the Gophers play them at Kinnick in NOv,, something like last yeat at the DOme - 55-0.Look at the Hawks roster sometime, they get some players from MN that turn into studs and have the knack for producing some pretty good NFL boys; Kampman,Greenway,Sapp,Keading,Dallas Clark,ETC. They put out NFL players from the likes of IOWA.That's coaching. Hawks will win the Big 10 this year.AND I'AM A GOPHER FAN. THEY ARE THAT GOOD. MArk my words.and will likely get beat by USC in the Rose BOwl, who doesnt. But being a fan of the Gophs and living in IA,, the Gophs have LONG way to go to reach the Hawks level. A very long way..... Mudcutter
face the facts the Hawks beat UNI. They are 4-0. The Gophers would lose to UNI this year. They are that good.Nothing agst the Gophers, they are my team,, but the Hawks may not get beat this year in conf play. The Big 10 is way down except for the only Big 10 team to win a bowl game last year, the HAwks. The HAwks will destroy Michigan in a few weeks. LMITOUT
The ol' Ball Coach sure knows how to pick'm. Two suspended already and now looking at #3, all on the defensive side of the ball. How many players has he had now that have either been suspended or become academically ineligible in just the few short years he's been the coach? If he loses to U of W this weekend it'll be the beginning of the end for him. Then again, maybe the 55-donut last year to Iowa at home was the beginning of the end, so actually he's now in the middle of the beginning of the end. so haaad
It's always an entertaining game. This year's game has some good matchups. I think we'll be in business if we can stop John Clay and the WI running game, and get our running game going like we did against Northwestern. I wouldn't be surprised to see us use the 3-4 defense, although John Clay is more of a bull runner similar to Ron Dayne. Wisconsin WR Toon and their TE Graham are both pretty good players, and WR Gilreath has burned the Gophers in the past. On the Gopher side, S Kim Royston has something to prove being a former Badger. And Weber needs to find another WR target other than Decker.
Drewski
The Badgers game will be intense, but Duck hunting comes first. Besides, student tickets are too much money for a poor college kid!
CJH
How expensive are student tickets?
Drewski
I think they are going for around 80-100 bucks.
gr8icefishinmind
Good game today....could have used a little better pass protection on that last drive though!! And also some better tackling and run defense!! Decker is a heck of a wr!!!
harvey lee
You got that right. A few got through the Offensive line like no one was home. The turnovers did help either. I really thought they were going to beat Wisc.
JBMasterAngler
Good game...some big plays kept the game close. Our offensive line is an absolute disaster! Penalty after penalty (all season), and then the pitiful protection at the end. Hopefully we get some better guys coming in next year. LMITOUT
Today was a perfect example why they better put a roof on the Vikings new stadium (if they get one), because even though it was a border battle game the fair weather, corporate, pansy fans stayed home. Sad. After the performance today it appears they made the right choice.
so haaad
Do you have anything positive to say...ever? I guess the glass is always half empty for some. As for the game, the better team won the game today. Story of the game, MN had 57 rushing yards and WI had 295. Wisconsin's 250lb RB was too much for the smaller MN linebackers. I agree that the MN o-line needs some improvement. Far too many penalties from that unit today. It was nice to see a few passes to Stoudamire. That kid is amazing on kick returns though, I'd like to see them get him the ball more on offense, i.e. end arounds, passes to the flat, maybe even wildcat, etc. Purdue next week, we need to win that one.
