FF,

Awesome fish! Congradulations!!!!

Are there any attorneys out there who'd like to be my fishing partner? Seems like if you catch a big fish nowadays you need an attorney to defend yourself.

What a great feeling it must have been to land a fish like that. Too bad it has to be soured by so many doubters.

FF, enjoy the moment and the memories!

Hey man I think thats sweet that you got a 61 inch ski!!! totally believe you. You are always gonna have people that dont believe you. But the only thing that matters is that you and your buddy were there and are the only one that knows that truth and thats what is so cool about it. Who cares what other people think. Everyone now thinks they are a musky experts and think they know exactly how big it was through a picture. Great fish and congrats

I think it's pure jealousy on here! Who wouldn't want a 61" fish in their hands? Like posted over and over and over again, nice catch and glad you can enjoy it. Definitely a promising sign for musky fishing when these mammoths start appearing. Odds are somebody let her go at one point and hopefully the rest of us will follow suit to continue to create giants like this one. If you ever need a fishing partner Fish & Fowl shoot me an e-mail, I'd be willing to help you chase that thing again.

A good way to tell if a fish is really long is the space between the anal and pelvic fins, if the fins are far apart it's a long fish, if your hand takes up the room between the fins it's not a long fish.

pretty simple,

Its tough, but to the jealous naysayers defense, I dont know what else you would expect when the fish is measured with two peices of a net handle, there is no girth measurment, and the only pic has the tail cut off.

As long as you know, thats all that matters. Dont start doubting yourself no matter what you read here. You had to expect a mixed response.

UC,

I guess what you might be missing is that the handle was already snapped together and measured out. Josh had made it up the night before because we knew we didn't have my good one (which only went up to 60" ironically). It definitely isn't rocket science to make up measure stick so I don't know why you keep going back to that part of it. Also, are the 55 and 58 pics you put up on a tape by chance?

Anyways I wanted to put this pic up for now to make up for the poor one used on MH's site...still not putting the other pics up until I figure a few things out.

That picture is a lot better. Congrats on the GIANT fish wink someday I may be lucky enough to catch a 55 and she would look small to your fish.

There are lots of internet experts that have handled 60" fish. I applaud you on your release of the fish and getting her back in the water after only 3 pics. Many "Experts" would shoot 15 pics then have all afternoon to take a girth measurement. I have seen lots of pics of upper 40 inch fish passed off as 50's and seen pics of 50's that just did not look big.

Thank You for sharring the story and pics of this fish.

Congrats

No getting around it, that's a monsta monsta fish! As long as you know how big it was that's all that counts. Just remember there'll always be nay-sayers. I think it's funny how much a quick cpr is pushed in the muskie world but when you catch a big fish it's expected to keep it out of the water for 5 minutes to do all the measuring and pictures.....

I think it's obvious that this is a big fish. There is nothing to debate about that. A picture is all that is needed. (edit: Sorry for my blabbing, I started getting way off topic.....)

Not trying to start anything, but isn't that last picture the same as the other one, but only bigger? Either way, congrats on an awesome fish.

F&F,

As I read the posts on here and elsewhere, I have only seen one other person (Sorgy) from this site and none from the others mention that you only took 3 pics as a good thing. CPR rules: proper release tools, lift it out for a quick, horizontal pic and measurement, and then back in. Maybe 20 seconds out of the water.

Thank you for thinking of the fish first.

Besides, what good would a girth measurement do...many people wouldn't believe it anyway.

Thanks for sharing and doing things the right way.

"I always get excited this time of year when the fall is just around the corner. Gosh I hope somebody boats another pig this fall. I have a good feeling its going to happen"

And for your sake I sure hope they take several pictures, on a bump board. Setter, Dtro, and RU, good posts. Maybe I'm just having a bad week, but I can't seem to get over the fact that Garrett isn't claiming any kind of record, isn't making a bunch of money off this deal, and has no reason to make up 61, yet finds he has to defend himself to a few of you - because of a picture no less. Shame on us.

Go and grab your digital camara. In the next 30 seconds snap as many shots as you can, as fast as you can. depending on the camara, 8-15 pics? 1 pic for every 2-4 senconds. You snap pics while the fish holder is in motion moving and posing the fish giving you the best opportuinity to capture a great angle. and remember you can always crop a pic, better to not zoom and capture everything instead of zoom and cut your head off.

Then, 1 maby 2 on the board, you are going to measure the fish anyway, might as well photo it. No reason not to.

1 minute out of the water and you are good.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
