Hey Crashed! I can help you with fishing the Brule north of Highway 2. I've been fishing it since the Fall of '78 when I was 20 years old. Your best bet for big fish is during the Fall and Spring runs. Starting in July, Chinooks and Browns start appearing from Lake Superior. August gets going a little better for the Browns and there are never a lot of Chinooks in the river. Cohos are next to enter and September starts the major part of their run. Steelhead start showing up in September and go strong through October and into November. March, April and May are the months for the Steelhead spawing run. Just follow the east side of the river and park at the numerous Fisherman's Parking Areas and walk-in. Three ways to fish: Live bait like spawn sacs and worms cast upstream and drifted down. Yarn flies in orange, chartruesse, and variations or streamers and other dry flies using your flyrod. Lastly, spinning gear throwing spoons, spinners and flatfish/floating crankbait cast slightly upstream and brought in sideways to the curent. The big fish should be in the deep pools of the river bends and longer, deeper runs with structure like boulders, fallen timber etc. You can catch small fish during the summer throughout the river.

I was able to get out with some awesome people from Arizona this weekend, as well as Judy Nugent (outdoors wisconsin) & her 13 year boy Ryan. We did good on fishing, but more importantly had a great time on the water,,,,just being on the water. Afternoon was defin better. I would say through out the day we boated around 15 walleyes (some nicer ones in the 17.5 18, and 19.5") and some eater size, as well as a few shorts. tagged up many pike and smallies. And got a couple crappies, and blue gills. Great time on the water with cool peeps

Sunday Report: Super Hot & Windy

We had a battle trying to hold boat positions, but were still able to battle through and find/catch fish. We fished Amnicon, and caught several 14" bass, some perch, a few gills, 1 nice crappie, a few (NOT GOOD for Amnicon) Pike, and 1 small musky. Nevertheless, had a great time on teh water with good company. full-17656-21310-6_9_12_11.jpg

Jarrid, I'm going to teach you how to post pics on here one of these days....heh heh. Fishing is good to say the least though.

Oh and where did you find such a good looking net man for your video? Seriously, who puts a male model in a fishing video?

#1 I post the pics while I am laying my head on the desk at work, that way they are right side up for me...

#2 The male model we hired was a volunteer that we found living in a van down by the river. He was a little dirty, so we threw him in the lake to clean up a little bit. Kind of like how happy Gilmore found his caddy...

Sunday stunk on ice. So windy on Minnie that I could only fish where I COULD fish, not where I wanted to fish. Also, thanks to the pair of Loons that are NOT nesting on one of the two nesting sites the lake association put up for them but using that little hunk of "island" in one of the only wind protected bays on the lake that day. Yeah, big help.

Did minnie on Sunday night, and ran into Judy Nugent and her family! Nice to see vacationers enjoying our little piece of heaven,,,, We found several blue gills, and for about 20-30 minutes before it was dark got into the crappies. Didnt keep anything in hopes there can be some to catch this coming ice season. full-17656-21498-6_16_12_1.jpg

FINALLY!!! Got out from 3:45-7:45 Sunday afternoon. One SMB that would of measured, 4 LMB with maybe one measuring, and of course an NP that went about 10". SMB on a swimjig over a 7' sunken island. The NP came on the frog and most of the LMB were on a Spook. Surface temps primarily in the mid 70's. Not too much wind. Do have some vacation over the 4th. Will be BANGING it those days. Gonna need nav lights going out and coming in some of those days.

Yodes42,

What are you going after? I don't know anything about Amnicon but have fished Lake Minnesuing regularly for a few years. It is a good bluegill lake. It has been thin on Crappies and Walleyes of late due to the inordinate amount of ice-fishing tournaments (I don't fish for them). Fairly good bass lake. Some SMB, a number of LMB and size for both of them is varied. Smallish Northern Pike are all over the lake. I find all my fish shallow but, that is where I fish the vast majority of the time. Docks, lillies, weedbeds, etc. I get most of my fish on top, but again, that's what I do the majority of the time. Good luck.

Yodes42,

Good luck, especially if you are going to try Walleye on Minnisuing. My best guess would be work the south end of the island. There are a couple of breaks there. Another shot would be the west side of the island. Goes from shore to 20' PDQ most of that shore.

Yodes42,

Don't go by just me, because I haven't fished for Walleye on that lake for about 4 years. I only had about five spots I would try, then off to the lillies. There are at least three sunken islands with deeper water around them, lots points you can move out on, steep shoreline breaks, etc. I heard from a couple of cabin owners that they are catching some this year. If you're going to be around the area, it is not a bad lake. About 500 acres, varied structure, spring fed so it's a lot colder 12 inches beneath the surface than it is on the temp. sensor on your depthfinder. I used to do well with a jig and minnow in most places. There is a rockpile out there that has God-only-knows down there but you cannot jig it because it just eats them up. You can slip-bobber it and that works well. I would PM you the coordinates but my 12 year old GPS pooed the bed over the winter. I lost a bunch of good spots for a lake by Grand Rapids too. mad

Good luck.

Tuesday: Not great. No SMB, 4 LMB with two that measured, 2 NP (of course) Went 1-for-5 on frog hits. Addictive, yet frustrating. Couple of fish on a Strike King Red-Eye Shad and the rest on a Spook with the exception of the fish on the frog.

Wednesday: Better. 2 SMB (none measured), 7 LMB with four that measured, 1 NP, and a 13" Rock Carp. Drifted off the end of a point into 8-10 feet of water and there it was. Went 2- for-7 with the frog. I really need to figure those darn things out. Too quick with the hook set it seems. The two fish came when I was fiddling around with something during the cast.

Thursday: Stunk on ice. 2 NP and one Rock Carp. Went 0-for-3 on the frog. Cannot make myself wait them out. One of the NP went 24 inches (the other was about half that) and the Walleye went 15.5 inches. Again, cast out off the edge of a point and boom, one of "those".
