Pulled the boat out for the first time. Brought her out, and it was one turn of the key and she purred like a kitten. Gotta love the LUND/Merc.. Decided to fish for a few hrs in search of the bull gills of nebaggie. Found em, but wind kicked us off the spot, so we went to try another not so windy spot(s). Got into some nice walleye/pike/smallie action. many snapped lines fishing with the pan fish set ups, but super fun. Love having the lake to ourselves too! There was 1 pontoon (leisure cruising), and 1 other boat (fishing) out. The other fishing boat said they were getting pike and smallies too! cant wait to get her out again........

Jarrid, thanks for the report! Sounds like you had a blast. It is always a refreshing feeling when you get your motor fired up for the first time of the year. If you ever have an open seat, you know my number wink if you want to wander to my neck of the woods, I have a couple good spots in mind for some crappies and gills.

Boat in (finally). Hit it from abot 2:00-4:30. 3 LMB, all from SUPER skinny water tight on the bank. Topwater of course. Actually threw a swimjig for a bit. Never knew they made lures that sink. Novel concept.

Got out from about 0900-1130. 4 LMB. Two would of measured. Missed 3 on the frog. Same pattern as yesterday, little pockets tight up on the shore. Exception was the on the frog ones, those came out of dead bulrush flats. Pretty windy.

Nebaggie Last night Very nice outing with a couple of awesome dudes from the Dells! I thought they were a lot like the guys from "Grumpy Old Men" Hilarious. "The Green Hornet Strikes Again"..hahaha About 15 walters on the smaller side, 6 Pike, 6 Smallies, 1 Largie, 1 Bullhead, and wait for it.............A Loon!!!! First time I have had a guest on the boat hook up with a loon....Pour guy did get off, and will be fine though... full-17656-20690-guideclientsjackandal.j

It was awesome that these guys did not care to keep much fish too! Defin supporters of C&R. We kept 1 pike and 1 eye to cut up for them...

Wow Jarrid, you are friggin' Bob Stinkin' Ross with all that fancy arty-type drawing grin

Got out Monday AM. See your breath cold but at least not raining at the time. One LMB that may of been a keeper. Three stinkin' slimeballs and one small gill. The NPs and 'gill were on Spooks and the LMB was on a Red-Eye Shad. Warmed up nice after lunch for the family boat ride but of course got caught in the hail about three minutes after pulling out for home. Ducked into somebody's driveway and under their pines for about 5-7 minutes. A few dimples in the roof. Nothing major.

Headed out to Lyman last night...WOW is the water level on that lake crazy. Everyones docks under water, and back yards sunk (I am sure it is like that on other lakes too). The fishing continues to be terrible out there too. did see what looked to be a musky fin (good sign), and only caught 1 crappie, and missed another (probably a crappie). Could not even find fish anywhere on the graph. This lake used to produce 25+ walleye days (small ones), not to mention an abundance of gills, and a few muskies, but I have not really caught anything out there in over a year (did have one decent ice outing this year). I had heard that last August the septics around the lake seeped into the water and the lake gave way to a huge fish kill. Anyone know anything about that? Oh well hope it turns around...........

Rumor has it that when the July 4th weekend floods hit last year , the water temps in Lyman shot up to 90 degs which may have cause the kill on the lake ... Everone Ive talked to that has fished Lyman has had the same results as you did Jarrid .. Not wasting my time on there this year

Had Crappie Sniffer aboard this weekend for some filming. Had a blast fishing with him and Sherpa. Did ULSC & Nebaggie. Bite was off and on, but defin did get the usual catch of multi species. In one particular spot it was nice to see the walleyes comeing back, after being absent all of last year. Weird how that happens.. Anyway here are a couple pics from the weekend. Everything released full-17656-21105-6_2_12_1.jpg

Probably 14 eyes (a lot of 14 15 inchers with biggest 19.5"), around 8 smallies (biggest 18.5"?) over a dozen crappies (some nice ones), over a dozen pre spawning gills (some very nice sized ones too), tons of pike, a rockie and a perch. Great weekend on the water. Time to get ready to host Judy Nugent from Outdoors Wisconsin next Saturday morning, then some gentlemen from Arizona are coming to experience some Sconnie Fishn. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Hey folks, I'm new to the forum, and to be honest, the area as well, when talking about exploring the outdoors... I'm wondering if you could give me some advice as far as fishing the Brule, along with Lake Superior off shore in the inlets and between the big lake and mainland (like barkers island, etc.)

I'm originally from the Rice Lake, WI area, and I fish north of here in Minnesota a lot with a friend of mine who has a boat, but sometimes when I'm off and he works, I'd like to be able to fish a creek here or there or go try the big lake. But I literally haven't got ANY idea as to where I need to go, and for that matter, I have no idea how to trout fish (successfully) without a fly rod.

All that said, I certainly don't expect anyone to give up their secret hotspots or anything like that, but some info on technique and what to look for on the Brule would be greatly appreciated!

I would encourage you to flip through the Brule thread to learn a little. As far as the big lake fishing, your better off hitting the Duluth-BWCA Forum. That will give you a lot more advice. This spot is seldom touched with only a few guys that contribute regularily. However, we welcome you, and hope that you can help add to our little section of HSO. I am a inland lake, and st louis river enthusiast, so I cant help you with Brule/Lk Superior, but can certainly provide info for the fantastic lakes of NW WI. Hope you help chime in on our Forum, and again Welcome to HSO!!!

Thanks Jarrid!

Indeed, I do fish Nebagamon and Minnisuing frequently with another buddy, who has a boat on those lakes. And I frequent Amnicon on occasion. Nothing real spectacular to report on either so far other than what's basically already been said. There was a 1 hour period one day on Amnicon where I could literally catch a Largemouth or a Pike on every cast I made with a red and black spinner. Not a lot of size to them, but fun to have that invincible, "I can't fail at this!" feeling. That was last week after the last storm we got.

Work STINKS!!!! I was not able to get out last week nor does it look like it this week and, next week looks iffy also. Crashed83, sorry but I got nothing on this forum except for what I get out of Minnesuing and I try to post that as soon as I can (Internet at the cabin now so I should be able to get reports out same day). Good luck with the trout fishing. I know that the Middle River and Aminicon River cross 53 and those stretches look nice (The Middle usually looks clearer and carries more water to me). Try bouncing a crawler on the bottom through pockets and pools. If live bait isn't your thing, try small jigs with curly tails or lots of appendages. All I know about the Nemadji is that every time I drive over it, regardless of which bridge, it looks like a flowing hunk of clay. I don't know how fish can breathe in that stuff.

Hello all! Made it out in the kayak last Sunday to a small lake in Wascott.Caught 6 LMB,hooked into a few others but didn't land. Its tough to get a good hook set on those hard lips in a kayak! And a response to the Nemadji river i have been told by people that the muddy water only goes down a little ways then its very clear. The mud gets stirred up by the current and stays up top. All i know for sure is i am not diving in and opening my eyes to look! Planning to get out a bunch this weekend, good luck all!
