Had a fun filled weekend full of fishing, and hanging out with friends/family. Saturday we did Amnicon. Probably as many boats out there that I have ever seen. Many muskies landed. Our crew was able to scrounge up a few as well. We also caught probably half dozen pike as well. Biggest was a fat 30". Sherpa was able to lock horns with a nice walleye 19 1/2", and a few crappies, and a 40" ski. We also lost several fish. Some snapped lines etc. Great day for Amnicon though, and yes everything back to the drink.

Sunday morning, got up and headed to Nebaggie. We had a nice outing boating some bass (smallies and largies), and pike. No walleyes, and no crappies, but we did eat up the rest of the minnows. Lost one real nice fish, that I think was a walter in some deeper water fishing the bottom. Awesome weekend, and I am tempted to do it again next weekend! We will see. I am not seeing any deer, so fishing seems to look more promising...

Jarrid, our lake association is doing a similar thing with the walleyes. The DNR has told us our large fingerling walleye stocking produced roughly 5 times as many survivors to the following spring as the DNR small fingerling program was producing.

Dang Bears will not leave my bow stand alone......Spent the weekend trying to deer hunt only to be annoyed by bears. It is so frustrating knowing that Bucks are out and starting to give in to rut. I have a friend that shot a 10 pointer saturday morning, and another that shot a racker on Friday morning. Me? just watching bears!!! Maybe I should go back to fishing til gun season...

Hit the south bay of Minnie last night with Sherpa, we found some picky blue gillz and crappies, but only caught a few. Didnt keep anything. Marked a good amount of fish, but could not get em to bite. Also set up some flags, but only had one go off with no result. It was nice to be on the ice jiggin though......

Hope everyone had a great christmas, we headed back down to Polk county for the nice walleye bite on one of my favorite lakes. Went 5 for 7 with the biggest at 18". Brought home fish for the family, and enjoyed the rest of teh weekend getting into some gills, pike on the lake I lived on in High School. Made a pit stop on Amnicon last night, and met Sherpa out there. He had 2 decent eater pike on the ice by the time I pulled in at around 4:00. We set up our tip ups and had one flag but missed the fish that was on it. Guys next to us caught 1 18"er. Sherpa gave the Pike to them to add to there walleye...

To tell you the truth I have not ventured to Nebaggie yet on the ice. The other lakes in the area are anywhere from 6-10" and there are wheelers, and foot travel on most. I would imagine Nebaggie is no different. I would not recommend driving out in a vehicle, but 4 wheeler, or sleds, would be probably okay. I travel on foot till I CAN drive out, its good excersize, and I dont mind putting in the hard work to catch fish. Plan on hitting Amnicon tomorrow night, and Iron River this weekend sometime. I ususally dont do nebagamon at 1st ice...gd luck and let us know how you do.

Did ULSC on New Years Eve. Caught a few nice blue gills, but didnt keep anything. Fished in the afternoon for only a few hours. They were driving out there (about 12" of ice).

Hit it again New Years Night, and was able to get a few crappies biggest one was 12".

Yesterday went to Iron-River, and fished Delta (a 1st for me). Had a great day of catching countless blue gillz, 1 smallie, 2 largies, and 6 pike biggest was 32". We kept 2 pike..

Very nice weekend, and already looking forward to the next one....

Logged over 25 hours on the ice this weekend. Friday night I dinked around on Minnie, and graphed nothing. Saturday went to a nice little lake down by Gordon, and got into some pike, blue gills, and bass. Not as good as I hoped it would be, but nontheless fish were caught, and people were happy. Saturday night hit ULSC, and got into some nice slabbers. I released mine, but my buddy kept a few. Sunday from 8:00 to 3:30 hit Nebaggie for teh first time this season, and got into some walleyes (caught 6) but they were small, some nice pike, and some countless little perch (did catch a couple that were keepable, but we didnt keep any. There were about as many people out there as it gets, and I am sure most were in teh keeping mode. Finally seen the warden as he was checking on peeps. Cant wait til next weekend.....

Ya, I hit ULSC Saturday night as well, not a bite, although thats the first time ive been out there this year. We just couldnt find fish. I do plan on hitting nebagamon today in search of some eyes, havent had much luck on that lake this year. Im guessing people are finding them deep, because all the fish ive ran into this year were found in 20' or deeper.

Jarrid, by chance do you know which warden was roaming around, i know brad biser pretty well as he's a family friend of our. Thanks for the update!

Soooo, ventured out onto nebagamon yesterday. took a hard left right off the beach and walked to that 40' hole. I ended up fishing in about 34'. I've never fished there before but I was always curious about it, thinking it may be holding some suspended craps and big eyes. When I got there, there where frozen over holes fricken everywhere, honestly it was tough to find a fresh spot to put my portable. There was even an occupied permanent next to where i put down. So I was thinking that people were obviously catching fish here before. Fished from 1-4 pm and had not a bite. I had one line a foot off the bottom, one suspended about 4 ft off the bottom and a rattle wheel with a small shiner 2 feet off the bottom. Has anyone else had any luck in this spot? It just seems like it should produce.

Im gonna try further down that bay today. I've got a black ice cube portable, stop by if your out there!

Nebaggie is getting pounded as of late, and I am sure everyone is keeping everything they get there hands on. Hopefully this cold weather keeps the majority of the fair weather fishermen off the ice. I am sure lots of fish have been harvested. Seems that as soon as people get a few crappies in teh traditional spots, everyone comes out to compete against each other for as many as they can get. I probably sound selfish, but I know at least if I am keeping (which is hardly never) I only take enough to have a dinner with the sweetheart, and I NEVER, I MEAN NEVER gift out fish..........

I have fished that hole you speak of, and never have done much good. In the summer time, I mark fish there, but can never get anything to bite.

Dave, there are a lot of the small walleyes, and I suspect that some of them are the freshly planted eyes from this fall stocking. I would expect to catch these and watch them mature in the next few years, while also seeing newly planted fish (next 5 years). There are some decent ones out there, but you can bet your buck if one gets caught its going to the dinner table (most of the time). Nebaggie has an encouraging plan to release everything over 18", but how many people do that??? Dont think many. Good luck and keep trying, eventually you'll get one. I was out there all weekend. This weekend with a Eskimo flip pull over and riding with my buddy new Ford F 150 pick-up. Last night drove my black trailblazer out there. good luck
