Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Only the Twins pitching

Recommended Posts

How do you lose a game like the Twins did after that huge lead.

Our pitchers simply stink and there is no way they will win the division with pitiful pitching like this.

The call at homeplate in the 9th to tie the game was as bad as the pitching.

One cannot do what they did tonight and expect to be contenders.

The owners really need to pick up some good pitching or when the top 2 contracts come up, Joe & Jason will be gone. How could one expect them to stay with no chance at a ring and owners who seem to not want to put forth the extra effort.

I'm not all that concerned about our starters yeah we could use a number one guy instead of 5 number 2 or 3 guys but overall I'm pretty happy..

Tough to pitch after 10 days off I do expect Blacky to bounce back next time out!

As crazy as it seems In-spite of Morneau 6 RBI's I blame him mostly for the loss you have to catch a routine foul ball...

UMMM Go Twins!

The whole pitching staff stunk it up. Not just Blackburn.

I'll say 3rd place in the divison. Of course the Tigers and Sox's will beat them.

Fail to catch one foul ball and you blame Morneau? I sure hope you're joking.

the call at the plate was awful, but irrelevant. If you blow a 10 run lead, you deserve to lose. Here's hoping the Twins' brass makes a move for a power righty in the pen and a power righthanded stick.

Morneau over ran a pop up foul ball and completely missed it. I stayed up and watched the entire game and I don't believe that the A's scored a run in the inning Morneau missed that pop up. Maybe someone can confirm.

That was the worst pitching performance that I have ever witnessed by the Twins staff. It just seemed like it wasn't the Twins night, and no matter what, they weren't going to win that game. Then the umpire blows a call at the plate in the 9th that would have tied the game.

Does anyone think a play at the plate or any base should be reviewable? Maybe give each team 1 challenge per game?

I agree 100% with you Harvey! I really thought they would put a good team together this year so they could compete next year in the new park. Unfortunatly it seems to be more of the same. Mediocrity. Guess they are just going to enjoy the huge crowds at the new stadium without having to cough up for a contending lineup.

I wouldn't blame him... He only had 7 RBI's

The pop fly along with the two miss played throws from Punto. Short hops for a first basemen are 99.9% usually caught. Can't say he had a bad game though. At the beginning of the game I could tell it was going to be a long game!!! Heck by the second inning there were already twenty hit combined. Very fun game to watch!!! Glad I feel a sleep in the sixth inning. Sad to have to come to work and find out they lost on a crappy call. Oh well that is why they play so many games.

strange take.

up until last night the bullpen had been lights out for a very long stretch. baker and liriano are also improving.

really its perkins and duensing that stink. keppel had been lights out until last night, mijares has been unhittable but made a mistake.

the problems with this team are more offensive than pitching. outside of Mauer and Morneau (sometimes span/cuddy) the lineup has been dreadful.

managing has been brutal as well.

our number 2 hitters have been terrible. during our best stretch we allowed mauer to hit 2nd. gardy has stubbornly gone away from that.

also last night if he doesnt pinch hit him in the 8th he could've pinch hit him in the 9th and oakland has to face Mauer Morneau Kubel Cuddy...instead he used him in the eighth and then oakland just had to get the mighty punto out.

Haha, couldn't agree more! Can't blame the game on 1 play...cuz we lost a 10 run lead!!

miss the part where oakland allowed the twins to build that lead and then should've squandered it back with the wild pitch.

why should oakland be off the hook? they didnt deserve to win either.

umps blowing calls that directly affect the outcome of the game ARE at fault. umpires are not allowed to take into account who "deserved" it when making a call. their job is to make the correct call if the game is 1-0 or 20-0.

the "didn't deserve to win" take is the most ridiculous sports take around.

Pardon my frustration with certain takes BUT.

does anyone remember when we lost the divisison by A SINGLE GAME last year?

the umpire's lack of regard to what really happened could cost us big time.

I'll chime in again, ...Just to humor you a tad - Ok so how do you determine which play "cost us the game"?!?

all plays cost. some for, some against. hopefully more for than against.

both teams made several "costly" plays, but the game did not deserve to be ended on a clear play.

the twins didn't "deserve" to win or lose. what they deserved was the opportunity to play on to see which team that played poorly should have won. the umpires stole that opportunity from fans and major league baseball standings.

Personally i'm not sure they derserved any air time after the 3rd inning!

But i tend to agree with you here. It's better decided by the players and not a poor call.

Both teams stunk it up but we did just a bit more.

One does not give up a 10 run lead and expect to win ever.

Our pitchers gave up a ton of hits and that had alot to do with the final result.

I love these, the sky is falling and it's over threads we have every year in here.

-Playoff teams don't give up 10 run leads... oh wait the Red Sox did a couple weeks ago with the BEST bulpen and they blew a 9-1 lead against KC but manged a win like we could have if the ump didn't miss an important call.

Were done and certain to finish 3rd "see same thread last year same time" ...Oh wait we have 70 games left and we're 2 back..LOL.

Yeah it's over folks... grin

Go Twins

It's just gotten to the point where outcomes like this are expected from professional sports teams based in MN.

Put the best MLB team in Twins uniforms and they'll stink.

Put the best NFL team in Vikes uniforms and they'll stink.

Put the best NHL team in Wild uniforms and they'll stink.

Put the best NBA team in Wolves uniforms and yup you guessed it....................THEY'LL STINK!!!! wink

No matter what the outcome is, it's not just one individual who blows a game like last night. It's an entire team, including the management.

    •     I guess when I made that statement I was wrongly assuming it would be much colder than that. In that case, it should be a nice October game just like a couple years ago at TCF.
    • I went back the next day hoping the slush froze.  No such luck i guess water wont freeze at 31 below zero.  Sunday i tried moving my fishouse.  I kept breaking threw the slush. We hooked 3 widetracks together to my fishouse and still had to jerk the heck out of it to get it out. I did get a few crappies Saturday afternoon.  We picked up 26 crappies.
    • Finally made it to morson over the weekend.  Fishing didn't go as planned it was extremely cold on Saturday. Ended up with a epic stuck Saturday morning it was 31 below zero when i found some major water . I was pulling my alumalite fishouse on the way to go crappie fishing  I had to jack fishouse out of the water and set it on blocks. I then packed the slush down with my widetrak  i even used my trail groomer to pack it down. I let it sit tell Sunday afternoon to freeze down.

    •     Ice fishing in Wisconsin can be a challenge at times. Catching walleyes is not always an easy task either. We had some crazy weather leading up to this weekend, it was -20 degrees for a solid week and a half, followed by 2-3 days of mid 30s and pushing 40 plus some rain, then we went right back down to -20 degrees.   This made for a challenge fishing tip ups this morning. I’ve got some new hole covers for my Finicky Foolers, which do work great as I’ve used them before, but unfortunately with no snow cover I made the mistake of not setting them right away and forming slush to the cover. Lesson learned. I did get a bit lucky catching that walleye as I thought it would have dropped the minnow with the line being froze.   The first fish I caught was definitely a surprise, a species I have never caught through the ice before, although I have heard they are fairly common to catch out on this lake. Still was hoping it was a giant walleye, but fun nonetheless!   With the cold we weren’t really planning on moving much. We would mark fish every 10 minutes or so but many of them were tight lipped. We did manage a couple more fish jigging, which were some good sized crappie and perch!   Overall I did end up accomplishing the goal of catching a slot walleye out here, so can’t complain.   I will be out on Petenwell Lake more times this winter!
    • Drilled the holes first then set the sleeves down seemed to work a lot better...just have to make sure you mark your holes lol
    • A nice bite continues with anglers catching all sizes of walleyes and saugers.  Most of the action on the south shore is in 24-30' of water.  Daytime bite continues thanks to stained waters of LOW.  There has been a good morning evening bite in 15-17' as well.  Resorts and outfitters keeping ice roads in good shape. One two punch of jigging line and dead stick (hook/jig with live minnow under bobber) effective as is the use of electronics to mark fish. Jigging spoons in gold, glow, glow red and pink uv.  Small rippin raps also good. If not fishing in a resort fish house, auger extension could be necessary in spots where ice is layered.  Snowmobilers stay on marked trail, big ice chunks off of trail.   Rainy River pushing out some nice walleyes with an occasional sturgeon through the ice.  Fish houses along the snowmobile trail from Wheeler's Point to Baudette Bay.  Morning, evening bite most effective.     The NW Angle also has good ice conditions where resorts have ice roads / trails and fishing has remained great. Ice road goes to Flag and Oak Island from Young's Bay. Good walleyes in 22-28' with saugers and perch in water deeper than 26'. Combo of jigging spoons and dead sticks with a jig and minnow effective.  Resorts are guiding anglers to slab crappies on the Ontario side of lake. Preserve the resource, catch your crappies, move on to walleyes or another species as mortality rate is high for released crappies in 25' or deeper.  Snowmobile trails on and around the lake are marked and groomed.
    • I believe I picked that one up at Red Rock Wilderness Store.  It’s located east of Ely on the Fernberg.   Good thing is he does have an on line store too.
