Alan, We might have to switch gears here. I think they figured us out. Maybe guilie suits are in order... lol

The wife had a bruiser on possibly the biggest of the year it kept peeling line and eventually ran to a downed tree and SNAP.

In which pool, North or South? Should have jumped in after it, instead of watching her fight it then snap! LOL wink

I figured you were out yesterday...it's cool how that warm and bright sunshine just brings them out to the surface.

I need help. The lake I am fishing has a big shallow mud flat, lined with cattails, depths between 1-6 feet, some spots are muddy and some are sandy. There is a small creek that has a mud bottom also, where crappies spawn. I found out about this spot from an old-timer who has since pasted, he said they would catch monster carp there, and they would be crusing around on cloudy days.

I have been there 3 times this week (including this AM) and I haven't seen any so far or had any bites. Is it to early yet? Ice out was last week. I crused with my bow mount, just looking for fish, and didn't see any. Do carp favor sunny or cloudy...windy or calm? I', going to keep trying, just looking for some pointers. Thanks!

Sunny calm days are the best time for sight fishing them. That doesn't mean don't fish in cloudy conditions just makes sight fishin more diificult. Check the warmest water shallows and bays for active fish. My guess would be muck bottom over a sand bottom.

The fish most likely to bite will be the ones that are tail up "feeders" Fish seen cruising seem to be doing just that "cruisers". Look for the feeders throw beyond so you don't spook and retreive your offering until your in their feeding zone watch for line movement not necassarily a tug. Set the hook and become addicted like so many of us. Other tip offs on their location would be muddy clouds, steady streams of bubbles and obviously fins or tails.

One more thing keep you rig light meaning only use weight thats needed don't over do it. I go with out sinkers if their in casting distance to do so.

Good Luck
