Ed - it looks like you have a couple vex accessories that I do not recognize. Upper right above the gain nob - what is that wired on your pro pack? And what is that holding your ducer cable (looks to be attached to the rod holder)? Any other cool mods to your unit that I am not seing (besides the flex light)?

Ya have a Sharp eye. smirk

You spotted some new design elements you will see soon on all Vex Pro and Ultra pac's. I work with a R&D team on the Vexilar Pro Staff and we developed new accessories and modular attachments that will offer more ease of use and flexibility in the field. You will see them soon, this fall/winter.

There are a few more new tricks and tweaks in the works that will really excite the Vex fraternity. wink

Thanks Ed, Can't wait to see these upgrades/options.

Can all these new items be added to an existing ProPac, or do you have to buy a new one (hope not)? When do they expect to announce the new options?

I already posted my wish list on another post ... hoping some of them show up with these new options (http://www.fishingminnesota.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/1801902/1/Anything_new_for_next_years_fl)

You can upgrade any model at any time i believe. I am just not sure about any model.

Unfortunately the upgrades mentioned by Ed are not available yet. I think they won't be available until the 2009-2010 season. But I would think that you would have no problems adding them to existing propack models.

I have a marcum vx-1 and it works good and it has zoom and IR and everything but i really liked the lx-3 or lx-5 because you can see your bait better and the lines were finer and it had adjustable zoom and i really liked it and my flasher right now is broken and i would like to return it for money back and buy a lx-3 or 5.

I just received mine last Friday. I have been a long time fan of the Vex and just by the test feature I can tell the separation is incomparable. Sorry Vex I have definitely made the switch permanently. I will use it on the open water for sure just to play around with it whenever that happens. Ice fishing is a long wait to not play with a new LX-5.

No more blobs for me anymore. smile

But agree it is all a matter of opinion. A flasher of any kind is better than not owning one.

for me after using them all I would go with a flat screen model. No more snow blocking the screen. No more bending over all the time to adjust so u can see. My vex with the dual beam has great target seperation. Even in deep water gain is usually one or less. After dealing with nature vision a few times on previous products I would buy anything but a marcum or showdown.

They are all good flashers. I have sat next to marcums, birds, and vexilars with never one interference issue.(not for me anyway)

Yes, all the new Fall 2009/Winter 2010 Vexilar accessories will work on existing Pro Pack and the Ultra Pro Packs. They may also work on something new too. wink

Why is it that Vexilar does not have reduced priced overstocked models? I would guess that it is probably because they were in demand during the ice season. You guessed it, I do own a Vexilar. $299 is a deal though I would have to admit.

True, demand was high for Vexilar units this year so they sold well and there were not many retail stores nation wide who had an overstock issue.

The biggest determining factor is Vexilar flashers sell well year around, they sell nearly as well in the spring, summer, and fall, as they do in the winter because they are widely used on boats. So they are not a true "Winter Season" seasonal sales item, and as such they are less prone to seasonal clearance by retailers to reduce stocks.

  • Your Responses - Share & Have Fun :)

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
