that oil will be good for your auger. but personally i wouldnt buy amsoil for my auger i just run syn-blend. i hear all the time about guys buying the expensive oil for there auger. that motor is basically a weed wacker motor, do u guys run amsoil in your weed wacker to? i think its over kill. but since u got some left over i would use it.

I use Amsoil Saber in all my 2 strokes mixed 80:1. I used to have about four cans in the garage with a different mix in each one. Now I use one mix for everything. For me it has replaced 24:1, 32:1, 40:1 and 50:1 mixes. Makes sense to me.

We are talking about a few ounces of oil a year. It isn't going to break the bank and you can run leaner so the equipment runs better with less smoke. I too use saber in all my equipment now at 80:1.

First of all, the Interceptor - since you already had it, no problem to use it, but use it at 50-1 mix ratio.

AMSOIL may be higher priced than some oils (but really Saber Professional is not that expensive, $1.50 retail for oil for 1 gallon of gas), but consider the life of the machine:

I sell it to a lot of commercial lawn maintanence business who get over 10 years life from a machine when others using the "cheap" oils only get 2 years. Over the life of the machine to spend maybe $100 for oil and get the machine to live 5 times longer - the cost of 4 additional commercial string cutters over $1400. The oil may be high priced, but the long term overall is very low cost. My local city Parks and Recs used to use cheap oil - they never got more than 2 years out of a string cutter. They have now been using Saber Professional for 7 years and are yet to replace a machine due to a worn out engine! When they spend less than $500 per year on the Saber Pro and save over $3500 per year they can easily justify the "high priced" oil.

Actually yes I do. I run it in all my 2 cycle motors. My Amsoil Sabre costs me $1 per gallon. I dont find that expensive at all considering the many benefits I get from it. Everything I have put it in runs better.

For a new auger the best recommendation is yes you can use synthetic, but run the first couple of tanks richer.

For break in the best would be Saber Professional used at 50-1 for the first tanks of gas, then go leaner to 80-1 or 100-1.

Since you already have the Interceptor on hand, yes you can use it, but you need to use it richer. I believe your machine probably says to use their brand of oil at 40-1; for break in I would run the Interceptor at 40-1 or maybe even 33-1 for the first tank or 2, then lean off to 50-1.

I run the Sabre in my auger, chainsaw and weed whip. there is a considerable difference in performace with the amsoil to regular oil.

oh, and i also run the oil, filter, and air filter in my car, and my truck.

and its in the boat too. and the lawn mower. and snowblower

i think that pretty much covers every motorized vehicle i own!

I have an older Eskimo with a 2HP tecumseh on it, and on the recoil it say run 24:1. I just bought it from a friend who say's it's about 5-6 yrs old. My ? is what can I safely run in it, by the way she has cut less than 100 holes in her life and runs like a top.

To answer a couple of questions -

Tyler23 Why can you use AMSOIL so lean? It is not petroleum oil. It is a manmade lubricant designed to do a better job with less oil. It is just stronger.

Sniper07 Safely? Yes, I recommend use the AMSOIL Saber Professional at 80-1 - AMSOIL gives you save lubricant guarantee!

Break-in? Yes, you can use the AMSOIL 2-cycle oil during breaking, just use it richer for the first tank or two.

The other thing about the Sabre, I can leave the gas in my 2 cycle equipment over a season, whether a piece of lawn equipment that gets used infrequently, or an auger that gets put away, then doesn't find time to use again.

I've never had a gummed up carb with the Sabre.

I just dump out whatever gas into a gas can for bonfires, put new gas in it, and the equipment starts up and runs great.

I personally run at 80:1. 13 oz in 5 gallons, or 2.3 oz per gallon.

At 100:1 you'll have issues sooner if you're pushing your equipment, such as running a string trimmer wide open for 8 hours / day in the summer.

For homeowners though, you'll probably not notice.

I just drove up to Superior on Thursday, got my $1500 order for the year.

I just love looking at the house payment sitting on the oil shelf. laugh
