That box is very heavy and the matching one full of peramid weights is just as heavy the melting pot and the molds you can pick up at most sporting goods stors and you can buy the lead too but buying it can be fairly expensive if you buy it from a store look into the lure makeing thread for more good information

Everyone's going all in with the Kahles this year, eh?

I must have missed the commercial on TV.

No commercial on TV for me, just some browsing around when it came time to refill my hook supply, and I couldn't pass up the price to performance ratio. The nice thing is that I don't have to be "all in", as I've spent only 16 bucks and I've gotten several years supply of hooks! wink

Just pulled the trigger on a Surge Trophy Elite Series rod....It looks like a nice rod. Anyone have experience with Surge rods? This is the first baitcast rod I've purchased without a trigger as well. I was curious what the benefit of removing that trigger is? I would assume getting in/out of the rod holder would be easier...Cheers.

I think you are really going to like that rod JimBuck. I have two Surge's. They are the standard trophy series, but very similar to the elite.

Most definitely will handle any fish round these parts.

Good to hear. I felt like I was taking a chance having never heard of them. They look like a well built rod. It was between this one and the e-cat.....but I wanted a lighter colored stick. Has anyone tried the new e-cat? Is it similar to "The Boss" rod?

It casts like a champ and reels smoother than anything I have ever owned. I am having a problem with the clicker and plan to call Tica today to see if its defective or just a crappy design. My guess its a bit of both. Too bad really because besides that its great.

The reason why I asked is I got alittle upitty this offseason and bought myself a CalcuttaTE400 lefthanded model....wow. I can see why people who cast all day would drool over something like that, casts/retrieves like nothing I have ever held before, but the baitfeeder/clicker sensitivity I was not impressed with. I ended up returning it and slapping a good ol' Abu one my new rod and happy I did so. Hope you work the bugs out the clicker on your new reel. I'm sure later in the year I'll bug you again and see how the Tica is fairing...thanks for the reply.

I called up Tica today and dude was super cool. Gave me a suggestion as to what might be the problem and he is sending me out new clicker springs. Not the best design and hopefully should be corrected in future models.

Only have got one lil flattie on it so far but I have the next week and a half off so it will get broken in proper.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
