Mr. Heater single cooker owners....

I just bought the Mr. Heater single cooker model MH12C. I've been using 1lb propane tanks on it and they only last a 2-3 hours on the low setting, is this normal? Also is it just me or is the stand junk? I've used it 2x and keep it in a milk crate when not in use and the stand already broke. A couple buddy's of mine have had the same problem with the stand. I think I'll send them an email and see what happens.

only used the one pounder on mind a couple of times, but that seems right. i now hook it to a 20lb tank. Have had mind for years never any problem with the stand.

I have had mine all year. I haven't had issues with the stand but I did permantently attach the stand to the cooker. I would reccomend attaching that.

I agree the stand is a cumbersome PITA. I crimped the metal tabs on the back of the heater to the stand. Now it does not continually fall off when ever I move it. I've had mine for about 3 years and it has not broken despite the hostilities I've directed towards it.

2-4 hours seems about right.

I have seen people (myself included) mount the wire stand to a 3/4" piece of plywood. Puts a little extra weight on the bottom so it doesn't tip so easily.

Had mine for 20+ yeasrs and haven't broke it yet. Never ran the 1 pounders always used a 20.

I use the 1 pounders and I get about 5 hours on low.

Used one for the first time this winter, I am more than pleased. I use 20 pound tank. 3 hours is about right for a 1 pound tank on low.

I use one pounders and get 4-5 hrs on low depends on the quality of propane, with the ozark trails it seems to burn threw them a lil quiker than the colemans. I started refilling the one lbrs and they work just fine also... I did clamp down the tabs to tighten things up for the stand...

my stand broke and all I did was tape in back together using electrical tape. Has held up for a couple of months now.

The heater cooker is the way to go!!! I took and modified mine using box tubing and a little welding. I now don't have to worry about anything breaking and don't have to unhook the hose so setup and take down times are much faster. Speed usually means moooooor fish in my book usually.

Just bought one of these and it was the best $40 I've ever spent. made a jimmy dean skillet for breakfast and fried up dumplings and deer sausage for lunch. Fishing was bad but we ate like kings on the ice! Kept the house toasty warm too.
