In 2007 they starting using a new head gasket to fix the oil leaking problem. I brought mine to them and they fixed it free of charge. They are willing to pay for shipping and handling if you prefer.

My plastic auger has taken a severe beating. I have drilled countless holes and have not broke mine yet!

Sounds like you need a new blade on that Jiffy!

Have had my Strike-Lite for 3 weeks. Drilled around 75 holes. So far it is excellent in EVERY way.

Mine's a strikemaster with new blades. O well, took it in to drock today and hope they can fix it.

Wish i sold the item i traded the auger for and fill in the extra. Saw a strikelite on Tonka yesterday and man that thing is sweet.

I saw it...i didn't hear it smile

WOW I just logged on to see if anyone else was curious about the stike lite. Low and behold i found a thread to answer all my questions. I did purchase one At FF over the weekend. It is still in the box as i was unsure if it was better than my mag 2000. Looks like i will keep it and give it a try. Thanks to all of you on your comments!

I was also told by strikemaster, i called them yesterday, to use only 1.7 oz, any more- and if you lay it on its side, oil will find a way out. mine was seeping a little oil, this seems to fix the prob.

so besides the leaking oil and the plastic auger bit that breaks and usually freezes solid and does not cut the third hole outside its perfect. My nils 2 stroke does not smoke out the house either, no oil to leak. The reason I bought a nils is because I used my friends strike lites before. good luck

nils smoke, they are a 2 stroke....however, they are a good auger. its hard to beat the strikelite in the perm or when out hole hopping. use the correct amount of oil, clean your hole once while drilling, you wont have issues.

did anyone play the instructional DVD from stikemaster or read the manual>? It says for the stike lite to shut auger off after each hole and re-start???? Whats up with that? Make sence to anyone?

My thought was that they didnt want you to slip on the ice and squeeze the throttle and injure yourself or something.

I would say that is for safety reasons only.

We were using a Strike Lite this weekend. Ridiculously hard to start and some of the flighting broke off. Plus, since they don't have as much auger on them you're auger gets stuck too easy unless you pull up a few times while drilling. We got it stuck once, had to dig it out. I also don't like the thick handles. They just don't feel right. So, to recap, it's fast and lightweight, but hard to start and the auger flighting breaks easily.

by the way the nils also has a lock for the auger bit. If u are ever to get it stuck turn the break on wiggle a few times and presto it comes right out. No plastic flighting to break. Just as light as the strike lite and faster, oh and it comes with the worlds best hand auger. I saw the lazer mag said made in china right on the box, is the strike lite chinese made $hit also. If u want the worlds best auger go to the outdoor pro store and get a nils.

Were you using crappy gas or something? I experienced the exact opposite this weekend?

Who knows? Could be bad gas. It's not my auger so I don't know where he got it from. I know the gas is new this season as he bought the auger at the end of the year and never started it or filled it with gas until this season. I might check out the manual online and see if there's a recommended starting procedure.
