Strike - Lite is AWESOME!!

Picked up a Strike Lite after doing a lot of research and I couldnt be happier.

Went out this morning, it was cold, but the auger was such a blast to use. Quiet, so quiet, and ran like a champ in the -20 for the four sets of holes I drilled. No problems with ice build up on the auger either!

I pulled my sled out on a metro lake today and could hardly feel the weight of the thing in my sled.

I just need to get used to putting it down with the right side up.

I am one happy and satisfied customer. Thanks Strikemaster, and thanks FMN for the feedback and recommendations.

Yeah no mix is a big deal for me, and the carbon fiber auger is tuff, i have heard of people taking them off and putting steel augers on which doesn't make any sense to me unless they throw them around in the truck or something.

You would have to really beat this thing to break any part of it!

I have had the strikelite for 4 years and after many trips to big lake for broken augers I put the steel lazer mag auger on mine. Unlike RylFlsh85 comment I take very good care of my equipment and the auger never broke in the back of the truck. Every time it broke it was when the ice was 30 inches plus. Half the time when you clean the shavings out of the hole it will not cut anymore when you try to finish the hole. I am happy with the auger now with the steel auger on it(minus the oil leaking all the time).

Duckman, mine also leaked oil. S/M has a replacement gasket that will totally solve that problem and they will replace it for free. They will also pay for shipping and handling. From ship to return I believe it takes about a week.

I have some friends that I fished with last year that have one. We also had thick ice and the auger did get stuck and the plastic flighting did bread off the shaft. When that happend we were forced to use a trusty old metal auger that didn't give us any trouble. They told me it was the second time that had happened. They got it replaced for free the first time and i'm not sure what happened the second time.

i set mine down every which way and havent had a problem, this is my 3rd season with it....

only thing i do not care for is the blades and cup freeze up all the time, seems like i spend more time cleaning the cup and blades than drilling. not good for running and gunning on a cold day.

Grats Chode smile. Wish my auger was working >_< 3hp engine and takes 5 mins to cut through 18" of ice. My hand auger drills faster.

Noobi Question, do you have to use engine oil with the strike-lite?

Sounds like you need a new blade on that Jiffy!

Have had my Strike-Lite for 3 weeks. Drilled around 75 holes. So far it is excellent in EVERY way.
