We got back into Minn. late Sunday night. I had a good time, the drive was ugly. The first day I fished with Brian Easler (finished 114). We had boat draw No. 137, but because of a problem with the engine we got out 45 minutes late. Fished bedding bass in small narrow canals in about 2' of water. I had very limited water to fish, but managed one fish. The second day I fished with Kevin Pulsifer (finished 91), again we started out in canals, but larger ones and I had better water to fish. I managed 3 fish. Both days saw rain and cool temps (if you're from florida) It rained both days and on the second day it was only 38 degrees at launch and I was wearing arctic armor bibs and a Cabelas top. Stayed warm. Would I do it again, yes I think so. Do I like fishing on the pro side of the aisle better, yes. I do have a new respect for the Am side of the boat as you have no control or say on what is going to happen. But I got to fish soft water and had half-way decent weather.

D.D. this time of year you,re really limited by what the angler in the front of the boat has going. If he/she decides to chase bedding bass in the canals you can find yourself fishing very little good water. If he/she decides to fish bedding fish on the open lakes or river then you have more choices. I caught all my fish on a 7" Zoom Trick worm. If I had a chance to fish open water then I was tossing a rattle bait. It's pretty much the luck of the draw for co-anglers this time of the year.

No pre-fishing as this was a spur of the moment trip. No new tech. they approached bedding bass pretty much the way we do. Without a chance to pre-fish the lake I wouldn't even speculate on what I would have done. I know from past experience on Florida lakes that a cold front moving in will push the fish to HEAVY matts of vegetation or move them to deeper water if it's close by. Deeper water means moving form 1' of water to 2.5' of water down there.
