securing a flip over in the wind

I bought some of the screw in ice anchors, and then put a short section of rope off of them with a caribiner clip on the end, then put eye bolts on the back side of the fish house sled...

Works really well, but be sure to put in the anchors and get the house snugged up tight before you drill the holes, this will make sure you get the holes in the correct areas.

I have the ice anchors and they work very good as long as you have more than about 3.5 inches of ice to get a partial hole drilled to put them in. No more chasing the shack across glare ice. shocked

A short 2x4 and a length of rope is all you need. Tie the rope to the 2x4, drill a hole behind your house, drop the 2x4 down the hole and tie to your shack. When done, remove 2x4 from hole and go home. wink

Doesn't the hole freeze completely over in cold days...the days you usually need the anchors!

For the few times I've done this, I've been able to chip the ice from the hole and remove the 2x4. Worst case scenario would be cutting the rope and leaving the 2x4 in the ice.

I keep a 9/16 socket and a ratchet in my ice fishing tackle box. I bought an 8" hex head lag bolt that I just ratchet into the ice. I throw the tow rope from my portable over the bolt and it's not going anywhere. Takes about 30 seconds to anchor down the portable. Cheap to - only cost was the lag bolt. I bought a couple of bolts - nice to have a spare just in case.

That's exactly my plan!

Thanks

On kind of the same topic I have a Fish Trap Voyeger and the tarp is only conected to the poles at the top and at the sled so this leaves a lot of free room on the sides for it to blow around in the wind, has anyone found a good way to deal with this and ideally get it strapped down to the poles on both sides as well like the frabill houses have? (sorry if that didnt make any sense)
