Thanks guys!.....I've been into nature photography for a few years and have a few different cameras I've accumulated but the one I used for these images is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18...love the 18x zoom for those faraway shots and can take closeups(macros) tp 1/8" away from the lens.....decent clarity and colors also....8.1 megs.......I think I paid about $240.00 or so for it a couple years ago...not a "high end" camera by no means as it has one "fixed" lens so I don't have to be carrying and switching lenses all the time...I have other cameras also that take images just as good but this one is the "latest" in my arsenal....If the weather permits I'll be out again this next few days(4 days vacation) on a small favorite lake that produces some "bull" bluegills(my favorite of course grin)....Use the flyrod again with an array of those "Betts Poppers"....hopefully get a few decent images of that encounter!...rain expected the next 2 days cry.......

Here's a pic of one of the bruisers from last spring !...they should be in the shallows again this week...released of course

Nice fish Jake!....Not everyone can catch crappies on a fly....you certainly have it down!.....sometimes they hit poppers(my favorite) .....I just wait for a "mirror smooth evening" when the lakes like glass.....watch the lake for tell tale signs of surface feeding crappie....crappies surface feed and leave telltale rings on the calm waters but not like the "slurping" bluegills do...and the crappies tend to "pod" in schools in the much deeper waters near the center of the smaller lakes....I paddle over quietly to these "rings" and present my popper and "bingo" the fight starts! grin.....crappies on a flyrod....doesn't get any better!....well...maybe bull bluegills! grin

Huh, I didn't know there was really any pannies in Oxhide worth catching. I've fished it in the winter and got nothing but taterchip sunnies and crappies. Were you in the small bay by 169 or the main lake?

The crappies were on the beds in both lakes.....I caught the crappie and the sunny (pumpkinseed) on the first lake near the highway.....right by the old beaverhouse to the east....saw smaller crappies also and sunnies on the beds....fished Oxhide for 35 years and never really got any "huge" pannies .....it was better for crappies years ago.....as usual......just nice to be able to see the fish since the water is sooo clear....also saw a few northerns darting around.....just a nice little lake....

It is pretty. There's a couple of decent pike in there, and I hear a muskie or two. I use to spear the golf course creek all the time and about 15 years ago someone spearing up in front of us accidently stuck a muskie about 2lbs. I thought about turning him in but he felt terrible about it, said he just saw movement and threw....oops.

Funny about the musky thing!.....When I was there last Sunday near the channel near the boat landing,a couple guys in a bass boat were kinda woopin it up and I was wondering what was going on as they had just landed a fish so when I got closer to them(canoe) ,they had just caught a small musky about 2 pounds.....maybe there's something going on in Oxhide! grin....the musky had "bars" not "spots" as in some.....apparently they're multiplying in there....wonder if the Mn DNR knows about it?.... interesting!

Huh! I heard someone, whether it was the dnr or private party I don't know, stocked it several (15+) years ago, but I haven't heard of anything else since. I know of a couple of people that have tried for muskies out there, but haven't gotten anything.

i waded downstream for a while, caught a few small hammer handles that i seen up shallow, tossed the jig to them just for fun.

when i got back, my mom reportedly caught a HUGE sunny, which she said had 3" shoulders

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
