koonie- "If trading picks was such a great way to win you'd see alot more of it."

your starting to see trading becoming a bigger thing more and more everyday...in years past you'd see a trade maybe two in a year...now days there is trades constantly and big name players are being dealt...never in a million years a few years ago would a 25 yr old pro bowl qb even be mentioned in a trade, yound stud De's, young probowl caliber WR's, ect....a trade used to be a big deal and u couldn't pry a 1st round pick from a team...now days they are throwing there picks around more freely and teams are willing to deal their big name players.

the trick is if u trade still stay young....washington isn't a good example because they are morons...same with oakland...they put no thought into anything they do they just think they can buy championships.

the draft is cool forsure...i know your a draft guru you got the most draft knowledge in this forum when it comes to the draft...so i know u like it alot...teams definatly need to draft to get young future franchise players but all i'm sayin is if u can get a proven guy and he's young i'd snatch it up in a heartbeat.

i like the vikes personel these days cause they aren't afraid to spend picks...i wouldn't be mad for a second that we spent our 1st and multiple picks for jared last year and would turn around and spend a 1st and multiple picks for cutler this year lol.

yup its official holt is released now...i wonder if we will get him...he's the type of guy our team likes to go after..stand up guy in the community, ect.

Doesnt look like it

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the Vikings are not believed to have interest in Torry Holt.

The Vikes chased T.J. Houshmandzadeh and are looking for an upgrade opposite Bernard Berrian. Holt, however, has long played in a different system and may not be a good fit for Brad Childress' West Coast offense.

I agree with you about trading to a certain extent. As long as you don't do it to often. And yes it has to be for a young stud.

You pretty much nailed it with Washington and Oakland.

I love the draft, but please never make the mistake that I'm a draft guru. smile I read a lot, do quite a bit of research, and watch quite a bit college football, but the sites I get my info from has guys that make me look like a first grader trying to figure out quantum physics!

I'm actually all for trying to get Cutler. Even if it takes a couple picks. I'd rather use a pick and a player though.

lol well your a draft guru on this site anyway....thing about the so called "experts" is in the end they really don't know much more then the guy that does his research...they are right and wrong about talent as often as the next guy.

i agree to move players with a pick also..depends on who the player is though...preferably a player that has 1 yr left of their contract and will be leaving anyway...its almost like getting something for nothing if u look at it longterm.

They are on a roll now, heres another signing.

Quote:

Vikings agreed to terms with WR/KR Glenn Holt on a one-year contract.

Holt caught 16 passes two seasons ago, but he's not going to play much wideout in Minnesota. He'll cover kicks and return them if he makes the club.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP)—The Minnesota Vikings have signed cornerback Cedric Griffin to a contract extension.

Griffin declined to divulge terms of the deal announced on Friday, though he said it was similar in structure to the four-year contract he signed after the Vikings drafted him in the second round in 2006. That deal included $1.62 million guaranteed, though this contract is sure to be significantly richer because of his experience.

Griffin has started 38 games in three years. He has three career interceptions and has become one of the league’s hardest-hitting cornerbacks, forming a formidable run-stopping tandem with fellow starter Antoine Winfield.

“He is an aggressive, physical, contact football player whose best football is in front of him,” coach Brad Childress said.

Griffin has 223 tackles in the three years, and was second on the team in 2008 with 100.

“It feels good to know that someone’s committed to you,” Griffin said. “That really put it to me that I’m really going to be dedicated to them and give them my all. I’m already dedicated, but it just makes me that much more motivated.”

Winfield, who made his first Pro Bowl last season, has one year left on his current contract.

“I believe we’re a great tandem,” Griffin said. “We both love to hit. We can both cover. When you’ve got corners that love playing the run game, you don’t want to break that up.”
